Shaq should not be an option. He's old, fat and won't accept being down in the rotation once Perk comes back. He'd be a headache and he would just be a wall near the basket that would stop penetration. Shaq would be a mistake. If the C's go after anyone based on past performance then I'd go after TMac or Iverson instead... both would be a mistake too but hey so would Shaq.

I don't think that Howard would be available to us until half way point in the season (December)
T-Mac and Iverson's best skill when they were good was their athletecism. Shaq's biggest skill has always been his size. T-MAC and AI are older and slower but Shaq is still huge.

Yes Shaq is still huge in size but if you remember back to the Cavs/C's series in the playoffs I would love it when Shaq was in the game because he changed the Cavs game and made them very beatable.

Plus who gets the minutes once Perkins is back? Perkins? Shaq? Jermaine? You can't have a log jam of bigs who have egos. Shaq has an ego and I do not think he would accept being lower on the rotation that would really limit his minutes. One or more of them is going to complain and be a headache.

Josh Boone is a better option for a big cause he can rebound and would be in the Shelden role and would accept it. Unlike Jermaine, Perk or Shaq.

  • "He fiddles...and diddles..."
PG- Rondo
SG- Ray
SF- Pierce
PF- KG
C- J. O'Neal

6. Nate Robinson
7. Shane Battier
8. Marquis Daniels
9. Glen Davis
10. Luke Harangody
11. Jarvis Hayes
12. Semih Erden
INACTIVE
13. Kendrick Perkins (injury)
14. Oliver Lafayette
15. Tony Gaffney

Whenever Perk comes back Erden would be moved to the inactive list. For cost reasons it also might make sense to go after Janning and/or Matt Carroll instead of Hayes but Hayes is proven and can shoot.

Here's your firt TP.  Nice job.  Battier would be awesome, just what we need.

Some reasons why Shaq can work in the rotation. Shaq played 23 minutes per game last year, He would be fine with anywhere around 20 minutes, I'm sure. Because of Shaq's free throw shooting, he simply can't play the end of games. So we don't have to worry about who's on the floor for the final 4 minutes (It won't be Shaq). Cleveland needs a reason to do the deal, which is why I included big baby, that way he won't need his minutes too.

For Playoffs: 96 minutes between PF and C

KG - 28
JO - 26
KP - 22
SO - 20

Of course those are rough numbers, on any given night if one player is playing better or if one player is in foul trouble, those numbers will vary. But there are enough minutes for the 4 of them. Perk often doesn't play the end of games either so KG and JO could be the go to lineup down the stretch.

And if anyone questions if Shaq can still add value, simply look at the effect Shaq had on the Chicago series. He single handedly put Brad Miller and Noah in foul trouble every game. Shaq can't really just dominate post defenders as good and big as Perk; but he wouldn't be going against Perk, and we wouldn't need him to dominate. He adds a whole new dimension to our team, and could really be an improvement over Perk in the half court offense.

And Shaq is hilarious, one of the funniest players even in the NBA for sure. Anyone who has been following the NBA since Shaq came into the league in '91 knows the guy gives the best interview in sports. He would fit in great with our veteran team and our 2 year window. People talk about Shaq causing chemistry problems, but did Shaq cause chemistry problems in Orlando? LA? (No, that was Kobe causing them) Miami? Cleveland?  Answer...No.

The roster I want is: Rondo,Pierce,Allen,Garnett. And Shaq.  With J. O'neal,BigBaby,Gerald Green(need a athletic shooter/scorer at SF) Daniels and Nate Rob as the 2nd unit. And the two rookies rounding the roster out in Harangody and Bradley.

Enough with Gerald Green!  The guy sucks!

I agree any one who wants Gerald on the team is a Gerald fan not a Celtic fan.  He was horrible and a waste of a number 16.

Honestly,I would rather have Varejao than Shaq.  He doesn't need the ball, rebounds and defends and runs the floor. I know many guys hate him but you want guys you hate on your team according to Doc.   He would be a great energy guy too.  He leads the league in charges drawn and would the LA Floppers a taste of their own medicine.  Does all the dirty work we should try to get him and a wing player.

Every team in the league would rather have Varejao than Shaq, but Varejao is under contract and too expensive.

Im just realistic in my expectations and a die-hard Celtic fan probably before some of you were even born. Honestly I dont message my mind with alot of thoughts of players who are not even remotely possible of us attaining. And to me Gereald Green would be a cheap high ceiling player we could get at the minimum. The guy was 19yrs old for us with a couple 30 plus scoring games under his belt and yall say he sucks? I am not a idiot fair weather celtic fans like alot of you, who only cheer people who wear green. When he was here yall loved him! The minute he left yall hated him why? I am not 2 faced!

Well I for one, didn't love him when he was here.  Intrigued yes, but no love.  Has he learned how to play defense since he left?  When he was here, he had absolutely no clue how to play man-for-man OR team defense.  And the ironic part is that he has the physical skills and athleticism to be a very good defender.

Gerald Green had 2 skills.  Shooting and dunking.  For a 25 win team, those two skills are exciting to watch because we have nothing better to watch.  On a 60 team win, he has no place.  He plays no defense, cannot handle the basketball and does not pass.  His potential has been reached, he chose not to become a basketball player.  All he wanted to do was dunk.  If he can suddenly play defense and dribble then maybe he'd be worth it, but I am doubtful that has happened.  He was fun to watch because of how bad the teams were back when he was here, but now, Michael Finley can come in and do exactly what he can do.  He can shoot the 3 and play no defense.  I could care less about the dunking.
do it

PG- Rondo
SG- Allen
SF- Pierce
PF- Garnett
C- O'neal
________________
Shane Battier
Glen Davis
Nate Robinson
Avery Bradley
Luke Harangody
Rashad McCants
Quisy
Earl Barron
and Perk, Erden, Lafayette, Gaffney

McCants would give us a good scorer, Battier is the defender (for sheed and a pick), and Barron can rebound and has height. Him and Erden could battle it out for the 5th big initially.
