But I 100% that defensively he represents an open window to climb right into. VERY weak on the low post.  This is how we’ll beat them...

Neither KG nor J.O. spends a ton of time in the post; both take over 70% of their shots from outside.  Whatever Bosh's defensive weaknesses are, I think our bigs will be reluctant to exploit them.

It's frustrating, isn't it? In game three vs. L.A., KG came out like a house on fire in the low post. He pulled out an up-and-under move I can't ever remember seeing from him before. If he wants to, he can really make things happen. And to be fair - against Jamison, he did. Bosh may just be one of the few matchups he feels comfortable attacking from the post.

Yep - KG and every other PF out there..which is the problem.

Bosh is an undeniable Offensive Talent and an above-avg rebounder..but I really question if he will stop or even slow down anyone - especially down low?

I know that Lebron will help out some, but after a while I can't see Lebron doing this too much..

In fairness to Bosh and KG, both guys do not want to be known as centers. They feel their best (natural) position is PF. The difference for me is that KG can cover many of the centers in the league and doesnt get abused on switches.

Bosh cannot cover most centers and does get abused in the post. Bosh is a skilled player, no doubt. He just isnt very tough on the inside.

Never seen Shaq or Dwight dunk on KG's head. Cant say that about Bosh.

Bosh will keep improving on defense the next five years, especially as the players around him improve and a team defensive concept becomes paramount (that was never the case in TO). Probably doesn't happen next year without a better 5 playing beside him though.

Good Point - your comment reminds me that Bosh is rather young..this could happen.

I think it will happen very quickly.

Bosh was a very solid defender a couple of years ago before Bargnani started getting starter's minutes. Was one of the better defenders on two above average defensive squads for the Raptors (2007 + 2008). He was also one of the best defenders on Team USA.

The guy is a capable defender. Not a lockdown defender but a good one. Put in a good situation defensively (which he absolutely has in Miami) and it'll start to show very quickly.

The original poster seems to know precious little about Bosh. Bosh is an excellent player. He's not a 5, but that's hardly a knock against him unless it's also a knock on Garnett.

Also, Bosh was better than KG last year.

Bosh is a GT boy so he's alright with me, and he is a very good player.

That said, he wasn't better than KG was in the postseason last year with the exception of being able to play more minutes.  But when he was on the court, postseason KG was better than Bosh was last year.

Yea I dont mean it literally when I say he's a coward. He is a good player and i'm not actually trying to attack his character.
Just his mental toughness and willingness to sacrifice his pride for the greater good.

I also know that KG would rather play PF, of course he would, and of course RuBosh would love to play PF. The difference is that KG never asked his GM or owners to go add 4 pure centers to the roster. Bosh obviously doesnt want anything to do with it. He doesnt wanna be the GOAT. He's afraid to put himself in that position. KG, Pierce, Ray and even Rondo and Perk have no problem bearing the cross, taking the blame, sacrificing for the greater good of the team, playing our *stellar* D.

Haha..all of this Bosh talk reminds me of a long thread (about 10-15 pages) that was here when I first joined the Blog back in Oct last yr.

It discussed trading KG for Bosh. IndeedProceed convinced me that Bosh is truly a great player..but I still wouldn't trade him for KG - even now.

Taking off my green-tinted glasses, Bosh needs to intimidate folks - this doesn't necessarily mean that he becomes KG-like, foaming at the mouth and all.

He is very young, so I am holding out final judgement until this happens.

If/when he starts doing defensive jobs on the better PFs (Dirk, Pau, Rashard, Boozer, Amare, J. Smith), then I'll cut the man some slack. And I'm even open to the possibility that he doesn't have to show up box-score wise - just deny these guys the ball, Chris..get in their faces, something..he is blessed with the physical gifts..good height, long arms...keeps himself in shape.

When he starts directly neutralizing the opposing PF's production, then he is on the way, IMO.

I must say, though - in Bosh's defense, KG was not able to do this all the time last year - even in the playoffs. But from Beaseley to Jamison to Rashard Lewis and even to Gasol, KG played really well defensively, and disrupted these players' rhthyms.

Hat-Tip to Gasol for having a strong series, but KG made it tough for him - especially in Boston.

I just don't see Bosh doing this, yet...maybe one day, though.

Ya Bosh is only like 25-26 yrs old. He's got a lot of game no doubt and alot of time to improve. I have always seen him a lesser KG.. equal to if not a little more potent offensively, but nowhere near the defensive prowess yet.

To be fair I didnt follow KG all that much before he became a celtic, but from everything i've heard/read/seen he's always been an intimidating guy.

And Pau is literally one of the top ten guys in the NBA right now, he's 7'0" and KG played him well. He may not have dominated him like he did in 08, but he still played the best PF in the league and did really well. His experience obviously has a lot of positive impact on his game.. i'm sure by the time bosh is 30 or so he'll be alot more well-rounded..

But I hope not, I hate him and hope he tears his ACL
