So, I was browsing around AOL, and this link comes up about Lebron reportedly buying a house almost 50 mil. 49. 5 to be specific. It comes with 8 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a master suite with a full out gym, and its own tennis court.

Now, I know I will have some people who will say, "Stop talking about this guy" or, "It's his money, he can do whatever he wants".

But this bothers me too much. I'd just like to say for those "Lebron-stans", that I am not hating, and am NOT jealous. I wouldn't in any day want a house that big. And times I say, that I wish I was rich, but when you think of all the problems people who are worth millions or even billions have, it's almost ridiculous. Drugs, arrogance, bankruptcy, being in the public eye, even death result to having so much money.

Now, I know he owned a 30 mil house in Akron... which I don't understand why because no one lives in that city. How will he be able to sell that place?

My main concern, is that I am tired of hearing and seeing these things with celebrities. People like me, are struggling to pay my college tuition. I live in a small suburb area 5 minutes from Boston. Yet I have to see this.

I'm not saying that I want these players to be paid less in edorsments or from the NBA, but I wish these players would realize that it sometimes shows bad character when you spend so much money on a house when its only going to be 4 people living in it. AND when he won't be living in it 365 days of the year due to traveling for away games.

Am I complaining, or bringing up a useless topic?
Yeeeaaaa!!!

Are culture is asinine. This is what we promote happily. Arrogance, Greed, Gluttony, are the foundation of this once great country.  It's actually still great, but things are getting worse at an exorbitant rate.

So be it. Just do what you can, and build your own peace of happiness here until the dream shifts to a new paradigm.

Yup. We are where we are as a country because of greed. What's mine is mine and what's yours is mine.

Not much is going to change until that changes.

"Don't Take That Attitude To Your Grave"

You say what's mine is mine
And what's yours is mine too
Now you've got more than you can spend
But all of the money
In the whole wide world
Is not gonna help you in the end
Now while there's still time to be saved
Don't take that attitude to your grave
Might be too late for you I'm afraid
Don't take that attitude to your grave
Don't you take it there

Dont blame LeBron for that, or any other athlete....they only signed the contract that was offered to them.

If you think Lebron has to much money, who is the guy (or girl) who is signing his checks? for NBA salaries, and for all of his endorsements.   Thats who you/we should be talking about. They just happen to do all of their work away from a camera, so they never get any of the blame, for  being ridiculously wealthy, to the point that they can afford to offere  multiple multi-million dollar conracts.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Buying stuff you don't need because it makes you feel better about yourself or slightly happier...Its the American way.

and on the other side of the coin he gives a lot of time and money to worthy causes

I'm sure a lot of our lives would seem pretty lavish to a large portion of the earth's population.

I'm not complaining about how much money he makes, (though I don't understand why shooting hoops leads you to making so much). But if you read carefully, my main concern was how he spent his money. Why do you need 8 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms in a house? Where to save the environment and money, buying a simple 3-8 mil house is more reasonable..

I'm blaming LBJ on his greed, and the way he's doing it. I'm not talking about who gave him the money. It's what he's doing with it, that this post is about..

And Redz, you're right. The only good thing about this is that I know he has a lot of organizations and charities for kids who are underpriveldged and such. I just wish one day, in a perfect world, (LOL) that people would realize that money isn't everything, and spending less, being useful, is the way to go. He can make all the money he wants, but its the way he spends it that can be a problem..

And this is not just for LBJ, but other sports figures/ celebrities who do the same..

This just makes me sick. There are poor people starving, homeless people dying on the streets, people fighting for jobs, loosing their homes, struggle with college loans, and we have this a$$clown paying 50 million dollars for a house... Like what does one need a 50 million dollar house for? It makes me sick...

But thats our culture. We put these people on a pedestal, pay to see them and just throw money at them. It will only get worse....

And all the money will problem cause problems for him in the future. I dont know how anyone with that much money can be happy.

The moon is out but he's drunk and shouting.
Putting people down. He's p---ing. He's living a day he'll soon forget.

He's stiffening. We're all whistling a man we'll soon forget.

And yet these people are idolized by people who just blow through any hint of character issues.

You'd think this was a Heat board today.

It won't work. LeBron's ego won't allow it to work. Wade's ego won't allow it to work. And Bosh isn't that good. And watching the Heat fail is going to be a tremendous pleasure.

I'm sure a lot of our lives would seem pretty lavish to a large portion of the earth's population.

But, if he bought a house for "only" $30 million, he would have everything he needs in it for the rest of his life. That extra $20 million could be put towards worthy causes.

I'm not saying these athletes and billionaires aren't philanthropists, because most are. But if they donate less than 1% of their income, it is only to help them sleep at night. They, along with their entire families, can easily live off of 50% of their net worth.

The homes and cars and jewelry that these American athletes possess astounds me.

Yes - you are complaining ....... about something that deserves criticism - the self-centered, gluttoness attitude of lebron james and many like him in our society sickens me as well.

being successful and making yourself money is fine - it's one of the things that makes our country great. but endlessley acquiring things you have no need whatsoever for and shamelessly promoting yourself out of pure ego is one of the things that is destroying our country.

for those who saw the HBO documentary on Bird & Magic, one of my favorite parts was the segment where Larry is talking about his rookie contract (largest in history at the time) and how he got to have a house and a yard that the neighbors would watch him mow every saturday - i also remember seeing an old-style Lincoln Town Car in his driveway, which i thought was pretty cool. Larry Bird, the highest paid rookie in history, and that little house and yard was all he wanted.

i also seem to remember Larry going in to tell Dave Gavitt that he was retiring a few days before his contract automatically renewed - Gavitt tries to put him off for a week, but Larry wasn't going to take the money if he wasn't going to earn it.

i watched Larry Bird, i lived through his career and watched him win championships and become the best player in the league ......................... and Lebron - you are no Larry Bird.
