So, Magliore = Scal?

I mean, Riley's statement is patently ridiculous.  Exactly how much freakin' leadership is Jamaal Magliore going to exert, on a team that's headed with DWAYNE FREAKIN' WADE and LeBron James?

If Miami is looking to their 12th man for leadership, maybe there is hope for the other 29 franchises.

Here's the quote:

“Re-signing Jamaal is a testament to his work ethic and his desire to win,” said Pat Riley. “Over the past two seasons in Miami, he has been an asset to this team, in terms of being a role model for our younger players, with his professionalism and his strong locker room presence.”

I suppose when you're talking about the 12th - 15th men on the roster, it doesn't much matter.  If Magloire accepts his role and can fill in when there is foul trouble or injuries, that's good enough, right?

I mean, right now our third center is Semih Erden, so I can't fault the Heat for having Magloire.

Magloire is probably worse then Semi Erden. I think there is something wrong with him whether it be injury or bad conditioning etc. Magloire has gone from starter level to non-active player in three seasons or so and is not all that old. As a celtics fan I was glad they used a roster spot on him

Magloire was surprisingly useful last season. He dropped a lot of weight. I can't remember whether it was 20lbs or 40lbs, probably 20lbs, but he's gotten back a little of his mobility.

Still not athletic enough to play regular minutes but he is a good third string center nowadays. I liked the post defense and rebounding he gave Miami when they needed more bulk in the paint.

I think, basically, we, along with the rest of the NBA is whistling in the dark! Our big 3 turned out to be awesome.  Only derailed by a couple of injuries from a three peat!
The new big three is gonna reek havoc over the league as well, injuries aside.  I think everybody knows it.  We're all just coming up with flimsy reasons (whistling in the dark) about why they won't win the title---maybe multiple titles!
They don't need depth.  The big 3 play 40 plus minutes EVERY game all the time. Pat Riley will step in if the coaching falters.  Chemistry is overrated.  When you're winning, everyone is happy!  They'll be doing ALOT of winning!
We, just like every other team is going for second place! Oh, sure LeBron could blow out an Achillies, and DWade an ACL, but for that, I don't see them being stopped.  Injuries got the best of us, so maybe it could happen to them.  So I guess there is some small hope, though I don't really like rooting for players to get hurt.
