I am praying there is a way this might happen.  A $3.2M TE would be significant for this team.

Another rumor had TA being traded for Ronnie Brewer.  Since Brewer was on the Grizzlies last year, they should have his bird rights.  they could have signed him to whatever they like and traded him to the Cs for TA.

We would have to take back a little more salary, but the option to S&T Tony to Memphis and get back something still exists, as there has been no official announcement yet regarding his signing:

I doubt Memphis would part with Darrell Arthur, but I suspect that any combination of Haddadi, Young, and perhaps Carroll could come back in exchange for Allen.

Apparently, Memphis is having trouble coming to terms with their recent 1st round selection, Xavier Henry:

Now, I highly doubt that Memphis would be looking to dump Henry. But they might be inclined to make other moves to reduce payroll costs, in order to free up money to sign him.

The Brewer and/or Allen transactions might provide the team an opportunity to do so, perhaps to our benefit as well.

Yeah since the signing has not yet become official...I am hoping we could somehow get something in return for TA.

And getting Young + Haddadi would be awesome.

Henry's salary is fixed depending on his selected spot. All draft spots are fixed, so it's not money.

Teams have the ability to pay a percentage more or less than the fixed salary for draft picks. Henry wants the max.

Quote
A team may sign a player for as little as 80% or as much as 120% of the scale salary figure. For example, the 1st year salary for the #1 overall pick drafted in 2005 can be as little as $2,893,680 or as much as $4,340,520. In most cases, the contract that is actually signed is for the maximum 120% figure. Teams are able to provide this amount using the Rookie exception, even if they are over the salary cap. Annual raises are limited to 8%, and also can't exceed 120% of the scale amount for that season.

Is Memphis under the cap or are they using their MLE? Memphis just gave Gay a huge deal. Randolph is owed 17 million and they have a lot of high lottery picks - Conley, Mayo, Thabeet. Can anyone tell me if they are under?

So there's hope for S&T then.  I don't know if a trade exception is more valuable than getting talent back -- guess it depends on who, but Memphis is loaded with young athletic guys.
