Yea, I mentioned that to PFlanns over at Weei and he said that the Tony Allen signing was already pushed through...he could be wrong, though. Afterthought now.

Marc Spears said Ronnie said it would have had to have been a sign and trade and Spears guessed TA would have been involved which I believe too.

Deng is a fairly mediocre midrange jump shooter.

His efficiency + offensive value stems from his ability to get easy shots close to the basket.

Dang it Ronnie you should have signed here.  You started in Utah for sometime this was your chance for a ring.  If he cares more about starting than getting a ring, when he's already been a starter in his career then he's not the kind of player we need.

Only if you assume the position will be filled via FA.  I think it more likely the position will be filled via a trade involving Sheed's contract (ie: involving a player already signed to a contract).

Yeah, i think that is the best way to get our top bench wing as well.

Again we might need to see the free agent landscape settle a little more before teams are going to look for a salary dump trade.

Maybe it was only 2 years, but Danny has been signing the old veterans to two year deals mostly.  Ronnie Brewer is still a young player that would be a great 6th/7th man for years to come.  I don't know if he'd only get a 2 year deal, but maybe that was the case.

Nate was only 2 after all.  But Nate is still more questionable while I feel like with Ronnie you're getting a good guy, solid and reliable player who plays great D and is a great athlete running the floor.  Seems like a no brainer.  Oh well though.


EDIT: Yeah, rumor is that it was a 3 year offer to Brewer.  Makes sense to me.  He's not part of that 2 year, last run with the big 3 veteran group, so I can see him getting a longer offer.  Nate may be expendable once Bradley develops, so I understand a 2 year for him.  The 3 for Brewer would of been great.

All of these wing players we are missing out on makes the idea of bringing in T-Mac more intriguing and it also tells me that Avery Bradley is really going to have to be an immidiate impact player if we want a shot at a title

I think it's a case of players trying to get as long a contract as possible before the new, uncertain, CBA? Their agents are prob telling them to get the cash while it's on the table.

DA won't offer anyone a long contract so they wont join the C's ..

Ronnie Brewer has decided to sign a three-year, $12.5 million contract with the Chicago Bulls over going to the Boston Celtics in a possible sign-and-trade, the free-agent guard told Yahoo! Sports.

Brewer said the luxury tax hampered the Celtics as they tried to acquire him in a sign-and-trade from the Memphis Grizzlies for Tony Allen. Allen had previously decided to sign with the Grizzlies, in a similar deal financially.

Considering that Brewer would have come off the bench for Boston behind Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, he was more intrigued about the possibility of starting for the Bulls at shooting guard and re-joining former Utah Jazz teammates Carlos Boozer and Kyle Korver there. Brewer, whose contract includes possible incentive bonuses, said he plans to sign the deal early next week and that Utah never made a strong attempt to try to get him back.

Brewer averaged 13.7 points and 3.7 rebounds with the Jazz during the 2008-09 season. But with the emergence of Wesley Matthews early last season and a need to get under the luxury-tax threshold, the Jazz traded him to the Grizzlies for a protected 2011 first-round pick on Feb. 18. Brewer only played in five games with Memphis before suffering a hamstring injury. He says his hamstring is now 100 percent.

Brewer became an unrestricted free agent after Memphis declined to make him a qualifying offer.

“I got a chip on my shoulder to prove myself to the Bulls and everyone else,” Brewer said. “We’ll have a great team.”

Interesting.  I take the comment about the luxury tax with a grain of salt, because there is a good chance it was lost in translation (basically, the C's just didn't want to pay him more money), but its still an interesting comment.
