Ronnie Brewer tells Y! Sports he turned down Boston offer to sign 3-year, $12.5 million deal with Bulls. Big pro for CHI was chance to start

Quote
"I got an opportunity to start (in Chi). Both (Chi and Bos) are storied programs. It came down to where I could excel more," Brewer told Y!.

Dang it Ronnie you should have signed here.  You started in Utah for sometime this was your chance for a ring.  If he cares more about starting than getting a ring, when he's already been a starter in his career then he's not the kind of player we need.

I'm heartened by the fact that Danny made a play for him.

That Bulls team needs shooters, bad. Korver may take a lot of Brewer's minutes. He may regret his decision.

I can't blame a guy for choosing both a chance to start and several million more dollars.

He says the Celtics were offering similar money so it seems Sheed's contract was dangled in this case.

Hmmm ... Rose + Brewer + Deng

Not a lot of jump shooting there

Well, Deng is a decent jump shooter, just more of a mid range shooter.  And Rose is not bad.  But, they also have Korver, who I could see them ultimately using as a starter, bringing Brewer off the bench.

This is good news though for the C's, because it hopefully takes Chicago out of the hunt for Howard.

Pretty sure a trade scenario could have involved Tony Allen.

Mike

The money I don't blame him for not signing here, but for a starting spot when he has started before when he'd have a decent chance of getting a ring here I can blame a guy for that.

Maybe from range but Deng is one of the better midrange shooters in the NBA.  Rose is improving and has a pretty solid midrange game already.  Brewer isn't really a jump shooter but isnt' the worst one either.  They also have Korver, so they have a shooter to bring in.

This is very possible.  They will need someone to space the floor so I wouldn't be surprised to see Korver start over him either.  I think he will probably play a similar role in Chi that he would of played here, and here he would of had a better chance at a ring.  Oh well though.  Chi is a team on the rise and maybe he starts, but yes that team needs 3 point shooting.

People have been saying that Rose has improved his three point shot over the off season too.

Where did you hear this?

This is becoming troublesome, more and more potential wing back ups are coming off the board. Hopefully Barnes signs with us so he can stick it to Orlando.
DKC:  Rockets

I too would rather have Howard than Brewer, but what about Howard and Barnes?  Idk I think Brewer and Barnes would have fit better, but maybe not.

I was thinking the same thing.  The fact that Danny is willing to spend $4 million per season on a wing is a good thing.

I wish he'd come here.  Brewer is a guy I like a lot.

Ronnie Brewer said sign and trade with Memphis would have been needed to go to Celtics. Such a deal might have included Tony Allen.

Shoulda came to the C's.

Yea, I mentioned that to PFlanns over at Weei and he said that the Tony Allen signing was already pushed through...he could be wrong, though. Afterthought now.

Sign and trade with TA.  Who's going to start over Brewer... Korver?  I think Korver should because he gives them a good shooter in the starting lineup.  Brewer should have came here because he's not going to start on either squad.
