I don't recall much conversation about what will happen to KG when his contract expires?  Will he retire?  Everyone knows he is the ultimate competitor and he keeps himself in great shape, but his body is wearing down.

I'd love to see him sign a 2 year deal at a much, much reduced salary and retire as a Celtic.  He can definitely be of value as a starter or even off the bench.

Would he come back at $8-10 million a year for two years?  Could he get more elsewhere?  Would he go to a different team who would be willing to sign him for a lot more money or at a better shot at another title?  Does Danny want him back when his contract expires?

me too. KG will go all out this year and next to rebuild his legacy after the knee injury, and to win one more title. Then I think he's done.

He retires or returns to come off the bench for the minimum. Nothing in between.

I expect him to retire as well, or sign somewhere else if not.

Danny seems to be gearing up to make a splash in the 2012 free agent market (Dwight Howard, anyone?) So I don't expect him to offer up much $$ to KG. If he's willing to a smaller salary and a smaller role, maybe.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

I could see KG going anothe couple of years after his contract ends, especially if he is healthy. He could still command decent bucks, and contribute to a championship, although may be coming off the bench at that point.

I disagree.  I think it's quite possible he goes somewhere else at the MLE to try to win one more title.

Unlike Pierce, he isn't a lifetime Celtic.

Garnett doesn't strike me as the type who'll enjoy his basketball once he is no longer a star player.

He also doesn't strike me as a guy who wants his legacy being one of hopping around at the end of his career chasing a title, either. He will end a Celtic, it's just a matter of whether, like who says, he can handle the change to role playing bench guy. I don't think he will and will retire.

Exactly right.  When KG can't lock people down on D and make an impact on the offensive end he won't have that same fire.  He is such an intense guy on the court and if his play can't back up that intensity the whole thing will seem hollow and he'll realize that.

True.  He talks way too much trash.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Bird talked the most trash and he's still in it. MJ big trash talker still in it.  I could see him as assistant coach.  The team would be fired up that's for sure.

Yeah, I'm in agreement. I think 2012 is a hard line for KG. He's playing like a warrior even though his body is betraying him.
