I've never heard people crying so much about a [dang] good roster.  Even Pierce has to chime in yesterday with his comments about adding more players.  We won't need a bench Paul, unless you get outplayed by guys like Ron Artest again. Who did you lose ?  ok, Allen and Williams are gone.  So what. Thats a big deal?  I've never seen this many posters come out of the woodwork in support of T.A.  It suprises me with some of the posts on here.

You got Ray Allen back.
You got Paul Pierce back.
You signed Jermaine O'neal (who replaces Wallace if he's retiring).
You now got Nate back.

Thats a helluva offseason, btw.  Especially when your trying to keep a championship team intact.

Others like Scal, Gody, etc. remain to be seen. Yes, I realize they need another big.  Another wing. Its not like Bosh2 is available out there and will sign at 1 million per.  Same goes with the wing player.

How many players did Doc even play in the finals ?  playoffs ? 8-9 man rotation ?

If your really missing S.Williams, why not just add T. Gaffney or bring Scal back ? Does it really matter who the 12th man is ?

Nobody knows what Bradley brings. Not sure what Ainge expects out of him. He could bring M.Banks game, or he could be R. Westbrook.  Nobody knows.

When your paying guys like Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Garnett, and O'neal, where is the other money going to come from to afford a "Paul Pierce" wanted free agent ?  Its not like you can afford Bosh or Lebron Paul.  Theres a reason its 'slim pickins'.

You guys are linked to every solid free agent thats affordable (Barnes, Shaq, Fernandez, etc.).   What more can you do ?  This isn't playstation Paul.  There are money rules a gm has to abide by.

Who wanted Williams back?  I don't think anyone valued him. At least I didn't. 

Yes Tony is valued high, imo.  He was the best perimeter defender we had and there is no one available to us that can play the same level of defense.

Agreed on Pierce.  Danny is doing a great job with his options and I've liked all the contract lengths and prices except the guarenteed 4th on Pierce's (ironic with him complaining).

Pierce doesn't seem to know there's a salary cap.  We can still turn Sheed's contract into a wing and we need a vet min big.  Then we're all set.  We ran with a short rotation anyways.  Bring on Harangody and Gaffney too to round us out.

Any trade could definitely still happen for a big or another wing. Rasheeds contract could be of use. That was always the more likely scenario if the C's were to add another big name. I'd rather have Sheed come back and be the backup 4/5 then whats out there.  Its not like they can trade the contract for a O'neal/Gasol type player.

I think Paul was particularly worried that we would lose both Tony and Nate.  No longer a concern. We clearly have some options now to replace Tony, whether it is Barnes, Fernandez, Brewer or Howard. Think our chances of getting at least one of those guys is pretty good. Two would be fantastic.

The bench is particularly important for Boston, because the bench will be relied upon during the regular season to keep the Big Three's minutes down, to keep them rested and ready for the playoffs.

Come playoffs, it is a different story. 

I'd say of all the teams in the NBA, the bench is the most important for the Celtics (given that they are contenders, and that they are so old).  Second is probably Lakers (also getting old).

I've fine with Tony leaving.  I'd like to see us sign a couple of more wings and another big man.  It may make sense to bring Daniels back as one of those wings; he's a lot better than he showed last season.
