In some ways this is good. The Magic keep bogging themselves down with big salaries for role players. They seem to be engaging in the Cleveland Cavaliers model of business: keep just enough talent around your superstar to appear you're a contender, but waste so much money on mediocre players doing it that you can never actually give him a legit #2 star.
Over 20 million dollars per year (actually 23 million per year two years from now) over the next three years for Lewis, 17 million for Carter, 7 million for Nelson, 6 million for Gortat, 5 million for Pietrus, 4 million for Bass, now 6 million for Reddick.
They're going to be paying over 90 million in salary to a team that really only has one truly elite player.
Hopefully this means that Howard will be following LeBron's example and maybe we can make a run at him in 2 years.
