Tracy McGrady is finished. His legs are gone.

As a result, he is one of the worst defensive players in the league + a liability on the backboards + he is unable to create separation from his defender due to his lack of athleticism which leads to a large number of contested jump shots off the dribble which leads to highly inefficient scoring.

McGrady is an ineffective offensive player who does more harm to his team than good + a horrific defensive player who again harms his team + a weak rebounder who again hurts his team.

Tracy McGrady is finished.

Why are they so focused on wing players? 4 out of 5 of their signings are wing players (Wade, LeBron, Miller, TMac).

Maybe this signing for the Heat is an even better one for the Celtics?

The best situation for him would probably be a team like Cleveland.  The Cavs might even let him step in at LeBron's spot and start right away and see if they can get lucky with T-Mac playing something remotely close to his old self.

In Miami, he's going to be asked to be a role player, and I'm not sure how comfortable he is with that.

For us, I don't think it'd be an ideal fit, but I think it'd be better.  With us he'd get more minutes behind Pierce and Allen than behind Wade and LeBron and if he's with the second unit, we could just let him jack it up 10-12 times a game.

Yeah why not for vet min.  Sounds like the perfect way to get that 1st round monkey off your back.

Limited risk/Limited reward

Would be sweet if they didn't make it out of the first round with McGrady on the team. ;D

Aside from Wade they seem to be stockpiling losers.

He's a hit or miss, I could still see McGrady putting up some good numbers. Or he could get hurt. But seriously, don't doubt him.

This.

AI and T-mac are still capable of being a great 6th man for their teams, but it all goes down if they can keep their egos and accept their roles as a bench player.

....Capable and willing are collossal oxymorons for two coach killing tanking jerks.  I'd LOVE to see both of these idiots on the Heat.

Somebody ought to show Toppers and Rashi the epic film of the "capable" O'Grady's effort for Houston.

lol sorry, but some of you guys are out of your minds.

It wouldn't be a negative.  T-Mac isn't very good anymore, but he's a solid enough player who would probably be better than some of the other scrubs they could get with the vet min.   He's not a headcase like Marbury or Iverson... equally washed up, but I'm sure he'd be fine for 10 minutes a game.   How are you going to act like there is risk involved?  It's a vet min contract.

Second... stop comparing this team to the Lakers squad.  Gary Payton was washed up, Karl Malone wasn't even playing in the finals... and Kobe was rusty from his rape trial.  Not to mention they had MAJOR chemistry issues between their star players.   This Heat team has dominant players who like each other and play unselfish ball.  Keep grasping at straws, gentlemen... the Heat are going to be sick this year.

The point of my post was to simply say that for vet min it wouldn't be a huge risk in getting T-mac. Sure he is injury prone and has attitude issues, but if he can accept his role off the bench, then it could only help the Heat not hurt them.

Besides if he acts up, they can always cut him.

I don't understand the hate for T-Mac. It's not like he seems to be leaving his team 5 games or so after he joined it like AI did last season. T-Mac got on a team, and was still injured. What's with the bull about him being bad for the locker room?

If T-Mac is truly willing to take the vet min., I don't see why the Heat would turn that down.

If he's willing to take the vet min, then he probably knows he won't be a "star" on that team.

Seems CB is building a protective bubble from admitting the Heat are building a solid team lol.

C'mon, in addition to LeWaBosh - they'll have Haslem, Miller, Big Z, Juwan Howard (don't know if that's official yet), Chalmers, Joel Anthony, and possibly T Mac?

That team isn't bad by any means.

Yeah, I think the Heat match up well against just about everybody.  They're not guaranteed a championship by any means, but they've got a solid rotation, with three elite players at the top.  It's still a relatively weak bench, but has anybody looked at ours lately?

Exactly, Roy - I'm not handing them the ring yet, not by any means lol. They still have to play games.

But the biggest knock on them was depth, they're doing a great job at doing that so far. At the moment our bench consists of BBD and some rookies. Still don't know how they're gonna use Miller, but if they have him start and have LBJ play a point-forward role - that's a scary starting lineup even without the starting center role clarified.

I guess this means Heat won't get out of the first round of play-offs!
