Morrow traded to NJ -- why not Boston?

Frustrating to me that the Nets got Morrow on a very reasonable deal, one that the Cs could have pursued using Sheed's contract knowing that GSW wants to shed salary. The Nets got him for a 2nd round pick protected to the 55th (!) pick. Good luck having NJ finish in the top five in the league, Golden State.

I think the Cs should continue to pursue GSW for trades involving their assets. For example, a trade of Raja Bell (S&T for 2 years, 8mil) and Brandon Wright for Sheed and a 1st round pick. The Cs can make a better offer to Bell than either the Lakers or the Spurs.

Or given that it's a sign and trade maybe Morrow just didn't want to come to Boston. Maybe he wanted to go somewhere where he could start and make a more lucrative career for himself.

Remember, sign and trades are all about a player's desire to go to a team more than anything else. Morrow was going to sign a contract to go to NJ so he wanted to go there. Instead, GS worked out the sign and trade.

If a player doesn't WANT to come to Boston in the first place, there's little Danny can do to get a sign and trade deal done.

yeh, who knows...I like the guy, but that might be more for more rotisserie league purposes than a title contender's.

that's certainly not the reason. it is what it is -- thin air. in this case, the only two scenarios that make any sense is, 1) danny wasn't willing to go for it, or b) that which nick describes above.

I liked Morrow as a replacement for Ray Allen ... but I didn't like the idea of Ray and Morrow in the same rotation.

It makes Boston very small on the wings. Hurts them on the boards and more vulnerable defensively.

True. It actually takes three to tango in a S&T. Obviously the FA and his new team need to come to terms, and then the FA's former team and new team need to agree on a trade.

That's what I'm starting to suspect. Why? I don't know.
Regardless, I'm seriously starting to curb my expectations of what we can get IF we find a trade partner.
