Quote
Derek Fisher has decided to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Credit Kobe Bryant with the assist.

Fisher

"I have decided to continue with Kobe, continue with our teammates and the fans of Los Angeles," Fisher said in a statement. "While this may not be the most lucrative contract I've been offered this offseason, it is the most valuable. I am confident I will continue to lead this team on and off the court. Let the hunt for six begin."

At the end of the day, there's one person I could not turn away from.

"Kobe Bryant asked me to stay but supported whatever decision I made. He and I have played together for 11 seasons, came into the league together as kids, and has been loyal to me even when others had doubts. We have won five championships together."

LOL I was pretty sure Kobe would never allow Fisher to sign with the Heat; but at the same time I also think Fisher was just messing with the Heat so that the Lakers could offer him a good contract.

I cant stand playing against Fisher. He is the perfect guy to hate, yet, he might literally be the nicest most respectable person on the face of the planet.

True.

And not to mention that as much as I hate playing against him, I still have to respect that the guy is still very clutch and performs well under pressure.

Kobe could pay him the additional 5 million in salary difference that Fisher was seeking from the lakers and it wouldn't take anything away from his bank account.

Wasn't the ring he bought off his wife for about 4 million after the rape in Colorado?

Ehh, unfortunately I agree. Hate what he does for them, but the guy is one of the most professional and articulate players out there.

This is good. I'd rather see the Lakers retain him and deal with him when the time comes than have him go to the Heat and round out their roster. I want the Heat to have 3 stars and trash. Better to deal with one very good team than two.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

No surprises here. Never thought he'd leave LA.

Strange.  Certain acronyms are associated with certain players...  Fisher is repeatedly called "Classy" by the basketball media.  A cheap shot artist who quit on one team to go back to LA is "Classy".  No lapdog media...He's a classless jerk.  Sort of like a coach wrecking quitter like Iverson is constantly called a "warrior".

Ray Allen is classy.  Fisher is a cheating jerk.  I wish he'd have gone down and joined moe, larry, and curly in Miami.

Haha - more like Larry, Mo, and Shemp. Those clowns in MIA don't deserve the Original Three Stooges title.

My sincerest apologies.  You're right.  The stooges were more cohesive than this train wreck ever will be.  Reckless to associate three true legends with 3 delusional primadonnas.

I'll maintain that it really doesn't matter who the heat get.  They'll self-destruct.  Does anybody see the messiah listening to anything Derek Fisher has to say.  Or Spoelstra...who looks half the messiah's age?  or Pat Riley for that matter?

i am a hypocrite because i would have blasted fisher if he had joined miami, but that is Ok. fisher knows his little act would not work anywhere but LA. he went to golden state and utah and was a colossal failure. some guys could be good anywhere; some guys know they need to be able to play a certain way. fisher is a third string point guard who is allowed to get his way on the court for the uniform he wears. one of the lowest forms of life i have ever seen.....a laker uniform sounds about right for him.

I really don't buy that he is "very clutch". He has just had a lot of chances and people are quick to forget his failures when recounting his successes.

Fisher is clutch but he is too old.  He's a terrible defender and I am surprised that the Heat wanted him that much.  Sure they just need someone to knock down the open shot and not turn over the ball but I think they could find maybe a slightly less proven player who provides more speed and a similar shooting ability... like say a guy on their own team: Mario Chalmers.

Add in Jason Williams and you're fine.  I'd run LeBron as my PG anyways.
