Ignoring Sheed's contract for now.... I've got another avenue:

On Tuesday, the Celtics can trade Lafayette and Gaffney (both not guranteed) & say a second round pick for a $2 million player.

Who could the Celtics get for that?

Would Brad Miller, Kwame, R Butler etc sign for 2 million?

EDit: the math: Lafayette (.76) & Gaffney (.76) * 125% + 100K = 2 million

i have a feeling Iverson could end up in Chicago.  They can offer him a little more money and he could potentially start at the 2 there.

Al Harrington is looking for a 5 year deal on a contender.

How does anyone feel about giving him the full MLE for 5 years in a sign and trade for Sheed & a second rounder?

Or the C's could over pay him on a 2 year deal... say: $7-8 million per year for 2 years.

No way I give him 5 years. I would possibly think about the two year deal, though. I think Danny might consider it, as well. It seems he's really banking on that 2012 free agency.

Traded to Denver for Renaldo Balkman (makes $1.7M/yr)
Celtics fan for life.

I think Kwame can play very solid D and wouldn't mind pulling this off to aquire him.   With Miller I just question how good his D is right now.

Then maybe trade Sheed's contract and maybe a second rounder for Josh Howard.

The C's are fully stocked at the PF with KG and Davis. If a $2million deal goes down, I think it has to be for a wing or another guy to help with the permanent loss of Wallace and temp loss of Perkins.

I'm only interested in a 4 if he can also play the 3 or 5 at a championship role playing level.

If the Celtics walk away with Jermaine O'Neal, Kwame Brown, Josh Howard and Nate Robinson I will be very very happy.

Rudy Fernandez would be great! He would replace Tony as my co-fav in green (besides Ray) ;)

Seriously, he was great in Europe, before all the hype from his dunk in the Olympics, he lead his team, Joventut de Badalona (whom wears black and green), to Spanish Cup and ULEB titles (2008), without a great supporting cast (he had a very young Rubio learning to play the point). Before struggling with McMillan as a coach, he was one of the fearless and fiercest players I've seen in Europe. He's a warrior and a winner, and playing for the Celtics would be what he needs to show he has a place in the NBA.

And it would be great for us, Celtic fans in Spain, as it would ease the Gasol praise in the media. When he was very young (2004- 19 y.o.) he lead Joventut to the Spanish Cup Finals, losing to Baskonia, and he was named MVP. He looked like a high-flying, although not that great shooter Drazen Petrovic. This is from those times:

He looks great in green, right? ;D

I just read that New York just used up the last of their free cap space signing Raymond Felton and this Russian center names Tim Mozgov. If they used up all their cap space then they had to have renounced Al Harrington in order to do it so this can not happen.

Yes I read that they pretty much renounced everyone. However even after their recent signings they still have about 8 or 9 million under the cap to still use (even on their renounced players)

This can't be right.

According to shamsports.com they have Gallinari, Chandler, Walker, Curry and Douglas under contract for $18.6 million.

In the Lee trade they brought in Randolph, Azubuike and Turiaf which comes to $9.3 million.

Amare adds another $17 million.

This Mosgov guy is apparently getting $9 million over 3 years, so there's another $3 million

Raymond Felton signed a deal for $15.8 million over 2 years so that's another $7.5 million

That's $55.4 million which probably allows them the chance to sign their second round picks, Andy Rautins and Landry Fields.

There's no way they have $9 million left, it's more like around a million, maybe.

The S&T for Harrington can not happen.
