Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudamire trying to team up?

I was just listening to WEEI and when I tuned in they were reading an article(not sure where they got it from) saying that this past weekend at Carmelo's wedding , Paul Carmelo and Stoudamire were doing a toast or something and talking about how they all want to team up in NY to make their own big 3.

This is going to get ridiculous if Stern doesn't put a stop to this .

Paul has 2 years left on his contract and is already talking about going to NY, this is crazy.

Do something Stern!

Won't happen. Denver is about to lock Melo up. Anyways so many things could happen in 2-3 years it's still fantasy to think of this scenario. I know I know!!! Miami blah blah. Still that was a little different. In 2-3 years I think Amare might only be 75 % of the player he is today. His game is built around explosive athleticism and that knee was a huge risk for NYC to invest in.

I agree on the Melo extension. Getting together with CP3 is always a good idea, but Amare is less clear.

As sickening and self-indulgent as LeBron's side show was, he was a free agent and entitled to do whatever he wanted.  But a player under contract just needs to shut his mouth and honor his contract.

Do agree with you on this. These conversations should be kept behind-closed-doors while guys are under contract (although maybe the Paul comments were overheard and shoved out there into the public).

Keep in mind that it is a bit unfair to criticize players about what they say in private moments. How much can we blame them for all the people eaves-dropping, trying to get a story from their private conversations with friends?

True, it's not as bad as blatantly talking to sports reporters and making it known what your intentions are, but a toast at a wedding is hardly a private moment.  There's no way Paul could expect that information wasn't going to get out.

Although, as of right now, it's just speculation.  Until I hear audio or see a video (which would have to be out there), I'll chalk this up to something for Knicks fans to take their mind off wasting the past two seasons for....Amare Stoudemire and Raymond Felton.

In all fairness, Chris Paul has been everything that New Orleans could hope for in a franchise player.  He instantly turned the franchise into an exciting playoff contender when he was drafted, continued to play through the team trying to slashing payroll rather than building the team up more, didn't speak a negative word about them while they were doing this, and even opted to have his meniscus removed (possibly shortening his career) to speed up his return to the team this past season.  He's been nothing but loyal to New Orleans and that franchise.

After these past few years, I'm not surprised he's dreaming of teaming up with guys who can give him a chance to win.  Plus he supposedly said what he did in a tongue in cheek manner at a private ceremony where the media was not allowed in.

That would be so, so lame. It'd just be stupid. Why have 30 teams if all the best players are just gonna go play with their buddies? Let's condense the league to 8 teams give each team at least 2 superstars, and just kick the rest of the players out. Might as well if this ridiculous, completely counter-competitive trend continues.
