I have a hard time believing that Anthony doesn't sign extension before this current CBA expires.
I don't...what is the appeal for Mello to stay in the West with an aging supporting cast? He'll always be second to teams like OKC, LA, and Dallas to name a few teams. I think that the idea of Mello, CP3, and Stoudemire going against Miami in the East and playing in one of the greatest cities in the world would be more than enough to lure Mello away from Denver, Colorado.
Maybe. But the West could also open up a lot over the next few years. The Suns, Lakers, and Mavs all only have a couple of years left (Nash, Kobe, and Dirk are all getting old). If anything, building in Denver could give him a much better shot at getting to the Finals, than having to go through Orlando and Miami.
Also, who knows how bad this new CBA could be for the players. He could be losing millions if he doesn't sign now.
Yeah, this is very true. The new CBA could really weed out the players who are serious about winning, versus who are more concerned about the money. I'm just curious as to which side Mello would lean towards, and if he would be willing to undergo a 5 year rebuilding process after Kenyon and Billups call it quits. By that point, you're looking at a well established OKC team who has probably been to the finals at least once.
I just hope Mello does what's best for his chances at winning...I'm a huge fan of his game, and I'd love to see him keep LeBrick out of the finals for years to come
Well, the other question is, can he pull a Wade and recruit to Denver?
Martin's contract is done after this season, the team holds an option on Billups (so they cut him), and Nene holds a player option (for a 11 million, I can't imagine he doesn't exercise it).
So if they wanted, they could add a max player next year if they cut ties with Chauncey and they could likely add two max players the year after if they waited for Nene to be done.
I don't see how that's much different than him jumping ship to "rebuild" in New York. It's not like they have or are likely going to have, an established core anytime soon.
