With Tony gone, I guess Danny can shift his attention to Nate. He won us two games in the playoffs, fully embraced a backup role, loved being part of a winning culture and is just a great basketball player IMO. Even Rondo loved watching him play.

Our priorities should be Nate, a defensive-minded wing (I like Wilson Chandler) and another center.

Well, with the amount of minutes that Rondo looks to play come playoff time, I hesitate to say that we need any particular backup PG.  However, assuming that re-signing Nate won't impact our quest for at least two wings and another big man (it shouldn't unless Wyc is looking to cut back), I think it's a good move.

Rondo shouldn't be playing big minutes until he learns how to shoot.  Teams now have the blueprint for defending Rondo from watching the Laker series and he'll be a liability, especially in the 4th quarter.  I don't think he'll be getting away with not having a jump shot in the playoffs or the regular season.

We need Nate.  I hope he doesn't get lowballed like Tony did. ???

We definetly don't ' NEED ' Nate but, I wouldn't be against bringing him back to provide some scoring off the bench. His shot selection from time to time could be better and his defense is very poor (size related).  I would just as soon bring back House and save some money.

Tony didn't get low-balled Ainge saw all the horrendous TOs and said enough was enough and you won't get a 3rd year.  Now he can go to memphis and fulfill his dream of being above average player (not really) on a bad team.

Nate loves Boston, what Nate need to do is learn the Celtics system quick, cuz last season, Doc just let him play his style. Though it was effective

Hate to see Donkey leave Shrek =\

They have the blueprint if the have a SG that can defend like Kobe.  (which is what, 2 maybe 3 teams)

The Celtics do not need Nate.  Could he play a role that helps the team?  Of course.  But so could some other backup PGs.  We are talking about a 10 minutes job on the Celtics.

And then teams have to contend with matching their point guard up against one of two potent wings in Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. Further limiting the field.

Just about anyone could defend Rondo that way Kobe did.  I don't think there was anything special about backing off of Rondo and helping out on the boards.

Yet other teams tried, and failed.

Nate could be quite useful in my opinion, but we should try offering him a little less than what he makes...

I like him but i dont think he is worth that much...But since we are seriously thinking about adding Josh Howard, signing Nate would be unlikely. I smell a sign and trade.

Hopefully we can keep Donkey so he can play well with Shrek and add in Howard...

Agree that we need to sign Nate. Loss of Tony makes it even more important.

No we don't.

You and a lot of Nate Robinson fans(someone some day is going to have to explain to me how one actually becomes a Nate Robinson fan because I find absolutely nothing endearing about his game, his personality or his attitude) might WANT him back. But we definitely do not NEED him back!!

Why?

Is he going to be the guy defending Kobe or Wade off the bench?

The two are not related.
