What a terrible off-season. 4 million for a back-up pg?

Actually, I think Farmar is pretty darn good. Plus serious play-off experience. He can play 1 or 2.

I'm fine with it. The Nets needed a back up point guard, Farmar brings freshly minted championship shine to a young team likely still stung by 70 losses. And the twenty-three year old - he's younger than J.R. Giddens - likely benefits from steadier minutes, the coaching change, and a break from the PG-unfriendly triangle offense.

My first thought was that the best course forward for the Nets now was to follow the former Sonics' strategy - use the cap space to take on salary from small market teams or miserly owners in return for rookie scale players and future draft picks. But the number of huge trade exceptions in play this season followed by the current CBA expiring may be game changers?

Either way, Petro's deal looks worse still when the rival Knicks just signed Timofey Mozgov for less...

That is about what Chris Duhon got from Orlando.  It seems to be the going rate.

If he trades him mid-season for a couple of vet min guys and some draft picks to Miami it will be astute.

Ya I'm not seeing the 4 million a year, I mean probably around 2ish. It seems like the Nets have a ton of G-F now. Harris, Lee, Outlaw, Terrence Williams, Morrow, Hayes, Hassell etc.
Harris and Farmare are PGs,
Lee, Morrow and Williams are SGs,
Outlaw is a SF.

Hayes and Hassell are .... worthless, really.

They have 6 rotation-caliber perimeter players which is not too bad. Their problem is they will not have a go-to guy at all this season, so they're going to suck bad.

I hate the thought. But - glad to say - I don't believe the Heat have much left in the way of draft picks.

Miami sent two first round picks to the Raptors and two more first round picks, as well as a pair of second round picks, to the Heat.

Another terrible signing for New Jersey. It must suck to be a Nets fan right now.
