Here's a guy that to me has a lot of potential and would be great as a 6th man back up SF. They are also looking to trade his with the contract of Eddy Curry so im guessing they'd be looking for a big name back a la Al Jefferson etc.

I highly doubt we could get him, but would Sheed's contract be enough to take him away?

According to a person familiar with the Knicks' thinking, the club will explore trading Wilson Chandler, possibly packaging him with the expiring contract of Eddy Curry. The Knicks would love to trade for a premier outside-shooting big man. New York Post

I would love to add him to, but no way the knicks are going to send him to boston (in the same division) for an expiring contract. They just lost out big time with all the money they had to spend, what's the point of sending a young , cheap player away for just expiring?

Ummm, I don't think a retiring Sheed would count as a "premier outside shooting big man", so no, we don't have a shot.  Not every trade is a salary dump.  They are trying to improve their team.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Who would want Chandler for that type of commodity? The best they can do is trade for Zydrunas...and didn't they just trade away their premier perimeter shooting big man??? Is Isiah Thomas in the room??

"Premier-shooting big man"....

I'm betting on Brad Miller getting a 3/$30M contract before the end of the week....

Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

I have a feeling Troy Murphy may be a major target.  As is Mehmet Okur, if the Jazz can find a big man to replace him.

Where does it say that that "premier outside shooting big man" still has to want to play?

Only way to get what you want is to ask.

Of course, it is not going to happen unless the players has a giant negative.

While everyone else is excited about the idea of an injured pot head in Josh Howard, I am hoping that Danny at least looks into this option first. I think Chandler would be an excellent option coming off of the bench behind Pierce.

I like Chandler, but as the article points out, it seems like whoever gets Chandler would also have to be willing to take in Eddy Curry. To make that work you'd also have to be willing to surredner Big Baby. I'm not an enormous BBD fan, but I'm not giving him up for this haul.

What if we could work out a deal evolving around Sheed, and Perk's expiring contract? Count me as one of the few people on this board who is not optimistic about the chances of a guy with the body mass of Kendrick Perkins coming back from a torn ACL and being half of the player that he used to be... :(

Ahh Wilson Chandler, the poor man's Andre Iguadal, who is the poor man's LeBron James.

I like him as a bench player but still prefer Josh "Bong Ripper" Howard

The main difference between the two guys is age and health, two categories that Josh Howard clearly loses in. Chandler's only 23, and still has a lot more room for improvement in his game. The perfect player to start taking more minutes so that Pierce can stay rested as he continues to get older.
