I feel like every free agent signing on here gets hammered. The only one that comes to mind as really ridiculous was Gooden, and to a lesser extent Haywood. A lot of the other deals people are criticizing like this and the Duhon Deal are not that bad. 3 Million dollars is a below average contract in the NBA. If you signed 12 guys at that number you could still sign what a 20 million a year guy? If it is a guy you intend to play 15-20 meaningful minutes then your getting what you pay for. Now some teams like the Heat currently, and the celtics the last few years have had the ability to sign talented players (or ones we thought were talented) like PJ Brown, Cassell, House, Moore, Marbury etc for next to nothing. Not all teams can get away with doing that. Hence you end up being 3 million a year for some backups, much like the celtics did for scalabrine before they became successful.
