I've heard the celtics are interested in butler and I think he'd be the perfect guy coming off the bench to back up pierce and allen. He can shoot 3's, has good length, and has made clutch shots before. He could probably come fairly cheap and they should just go out and get him before miami does. Josh Howard is probably best case scenario, but that probably won't happen and miller is going to the heat so if you look at Butler's numbers with the rest of the free agent wings he's probably the best one out there right now. Got get Butler and re-sign Nate.

Welcome, tricktak and here's your 1st Tommy Point.

Looking at the ESPN player profile, Rasual may not be a bad player, but he may need more minutes and more shots to be effective. He's not a bad 3pt shooter, but overall his FG% is not great.

I can't hold this against him, though, because Doc Rivers has helped every single player we've had over the yrs get better, I think. Even Antoine Walker improved his shooting % under Doc before he left for MIA a few yrs ago.

If Marquis doesn't come back, then Rasual may be an option for us.

why in the world would they bring back marquis daniels. he did nothing last year. while rasual butler is no ray allen as far as 3 point shooting goes he can still knock down more shots from 3 than daniels. they need to move on from marquis daniels and get a different type of player, but who knows maybe daniels comes back and proves me wrong but I Doubt it. Butler has length and shooting almost similar to posey and could even develop into a posey type if he's on the celtics. Players only get better defensively when they join the celtics.

It's quite possible that, at some point in time, the Celtics will still be looking for wing depth and Daniels will be better than anyone available for the vet min.

The question is, if that scenario occurs, will Daniels want to come back if he thinks he can get more playing time elsewhere?

Haven't seen him play much, but R. Butler would be a nice add since I understand he's already a pretty good defender.  That is far more important than whether he can hit the 3-ball.

Another guy I like as a big wing is Marvin Williams, probably via S&T with Sheed's contract.

I don't think C's are interested in Daniels any more.  He was injury-prone before he arrived and was injured last year.  He's also been known to play matador defense at times.

I haven't seen him much either, but my impression is that he's solid. Here's what Hoopshype has to say about him:

Very long and athletic... Good three-point shooter... Must get stronger.

Looks like he's just what the doctor ordered. I'd love to have him on the Celtics, I hope that we can make it happen.

how are we supposed to get marvin williams. the hawks will want way more than just sheed's expiring contract. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE MARVIN WILLIAMS AND WOULD LOVE TO HAVE HIM ON THIS TEAM, he could be the air to pierce or allen and we'll have a contending team for the next 6 years, but They'll want more than we have to offer. They may be more willing to give up josh smith before williams.

I watched him play at La Salle when I was there.  He's a good player.  He'd be nice for the minimum, especially now that it seems that the Mike Miller/J.J. Reddick pipe dreams are dead.

I also would like to throw Raja Bell's name into the hat.  Great defense, great shooting, and playoff experience.

my ideal celtics lineup 2-3 years from now would look like this

PG- Rajon Rondo
SG- Avery Bradley
SF- Marvin Williams
PF- Glen Davis or Carl Landry
C- Kendrick Perkins

Ideal?  Really?  That's assuming the MOST optimistic upside from Williams and Landry, neither of which are likely to be a lot better than they are right now.  That team doesn't get past the 2nd round.

Course I would love to get Williams and/or Landry but they are not taking this team far as starters.

I doubt very seriously that anyone of those is starting except Rondo 3 years from now. I also doubt that Perk is with the team in 3 years, as he does not fit with the Rondo future. The C's will look for faster, more athletic players to put around Rondo and Perk has very little offensive skill.

Rumour was the Hawks were shopping Williams for cap relief. I'd be willing to toss picks in there, if that's going to make them pull the trigger, too.

I think he's hoping Avery Bradley turns into Michael Jordan.
