I think Danny Ainge is being smart and patient.  C's don't need a morrow, reddick, korver, or miller type. If u want another shooter just get Eddie House at vet min. - Celts need a long wing player, athletic, can rebound and score to help back-up Paul and Ray - I like the idea of bringing in Eddie and Big Ben Wallace[avg.8 reb/game](or Kwame if can't get Ben) at vets min. - and then using Sheed's contract and another trade chip (s&t nate, finley, trade BBD] to get a - Tayshaun Prince, Rip Hamilton, Leandro Barbosa, Tracy McGrady, Josh Childress, Josh Howard, Ronnie Brewer

Agreed.  Miami's haul has created a 2-year window in which Miami may be vulnerable (too little depth).  Taking on Rip Hamilton's contract sounds crazy, unless that's what it will take to win the next two years.  I say go all in, take Rip as a backup 2/3, and kick Miami's ass.

I like Morrow, but anyone who has played in Nelson's system the last several years has over-inflated numbers on the offensive end. Not that the kid cannot play defense, but he's not going to have the same kind of offensive production just about anywhere else in the league.

I can't believe people are still bringing up Ben Wallace.

While I think Danny, like everyone has made mistakes, I like what he's done so far this year, and I expect we'll see some little trade before camp that will fill some holes. I'm glad none of us are making the decisions.

Miami is going to have to hustle to find players that will play for next to nothing. I don't see it happening. They should have more room in the next couple years, but Miller isn't going to make a huge difference there.

If I'm Chicago and I have to choose between JJ and Kyle, I do the latter. But I wouldn't choose any of them. Save the money.

Why not?

He had a very, very good year last year (look at the numbers; MUCH improved over his time in Cleveland).  He's an unrestricted free agent.  He's probably going to play another season or two.  He played last year at the veteran minimum, and likely will again this season.  He's a guy that's always struck me as a warrior, a guy who would fit in perfectly next to KG and Pierce and Rondo and Perk.

The only issue with Ben Wallace is that he has a very close relationship with Joe Dumars and is *likely* going back to Detroit.  But, Detroit's a mediocre team, they need a center but with or without Ben Wallace they aren't a playoff squad.

So, why SHOULDN'T we be talking about Ben Wallace?  Back up O'Neill through the All-Star break, then JO shifts over into more of a backup-PF spot.  Big Game Davis is still around, but could then be let go as part of a trade with 'Sheed to get us a wing.

Who'd you rather have Danny calling to be the backup 5?  Kwame?

Actually, I do think I would prefer a 28 year old Kwame Brown, who Doc said was mroe athletic than he thought and could "definitely help our team."

See, we can argue over Kwame versus Ben Wallace.  Kwame MAYBE still has some untapped potential, but also has the risk of being another useless Kandiman.  Ben Wallace, you know exactly what you're getting.  Kwame's also a good defender, would be cheap, and certainly his height will help in certain matchups.

But to say that we shouldn't even be CONSIDERING Ben Wallace is just wrong.  We still need another 5, we've realistically got nothing to spend other that the vet min, and Ben Wallace is certainly the most-established guy we might be able to get.  He's worthy of discussion.

I don't like Kwame, but yeah, I'd take him over Ben. Ben's had one good year after how many bad ones? I think he's spent. We need more energy guys, and Ben doesn't fill that.

In any case, the pickings for 5s that are realistic targets at the vet min are pretty slim, if we're looking for guys that could contribute.  Kwame or Big Ben, I'm fairly indifferent myself; I'd probably pick Ben, just because I know what I'm getting (and since when is Kwame known as an energy guy? ???).

Who else is out there?  Brad Miller will get more than the vet min.  Kurt Thomas, maybe.  Don't want to go into next season counting on Erdin to be part of the rotation, and don't want either KG or Big Game Davis to have to play TOO much at the 5.

We're not going to get a GREAT player in this spot, we just need someone who's not going to kill us.  And, I tend to think that the one area Ben Wallace kills you (offense) isn't THAT much worse than how Perk hurts us, and at least Ben Wallace grabs some offensive boards to give us extra possessions.

what about tony battie for the vet. min....he still can play and he will be our 3rd center any way when perk gets back...that's alright with me.
