Yea I know. The fact that the details are unknown is worrisome. He hasnt commited beyond saying he would like to come back.
Alot of teams with cap space that could make him a nice offer. maybe New Jersey?

He is our best lockdown defender. He played well in the playoffs and we need him. I would think 3 years 5 mil a year is a good starting point. Kyle Korver just got the same contract.

I dont think its a lock he comes back and we fans should show him some love.

It's amazing how the atmosphere around TA has completely changed over the last few months ... this guy was the bane of the Celtics last year, and everyone's favorite whipping post, (including mine). I really hope we find a way to hang onto him, as he's one of the few people who can give guys like Kobe, LeBron and Dwyane, fits on the defensive end. Stick around, Tony ... this team ain't out of it yet!

Tony is HUGE to our team.

We need him to slow down the Wades, Lebrons and Kobes. Without him we arent going anywhere.

Just to clarify, we actually do have Bird rights on Tony? He never changed team as a FA, but we did renounce him at one point in time before he resigned.

Boston has TA's bird rights + they never renounced TA.

Danny choose not to make him a qualifying offer. Made him an unrestricted free agent instead of a restricted free agent ... but they never renounced him and kept TA's bird rights in the process. Remember when Danny signed TA without having to use the MLE after Posey left? Bird rights.

From the Boston Herald's article at the time
Quote
Tony Allen and Eddie House are staying in the fold.

According to Danny Ainge, the Celtics have agreed to terms with each on two-year contracts.

Ainge would not be specific on the financial figures, but according to a source, both are being paid in the mid-$2 million range.

In the case of House, the money is roughly half the mid-level exception of $5.585 million.

The Celtics did not have to use any of the mid-level on Allen, because he has been with the club four years and the team thus has his “Bird rights.”

Teams are allowed to pay to keep their own free agents who have been with the club three years.

I like Tony Allen, because they can plug him in as a starter, rotation player, or reserve at this point. Even if they get better options, I think he can be an occasional defensive guy. If they don't bring back Nate, I can live with him as the fourth wing / third guard.

I doubt he gets a three year deal though. Probably gets the same deal he just had.

I'm sure he'll sign in the next day or two.

I appreciate Tony. He's become a good defender and finisher on the break. Nice combo on defense with Rondo.

Wish we could go ahead and get this signing done.
