I wonder if Ray, Paul and KG feel their legacy as the Big Three is threatened?

As you know, our own Big Three got together for the 2007-2008 campaign to win a ring.  They were dubbed the Big Three by the media.  However, they were in their 30's, while the new Big Three are still in the middle of their primes.  My question to you is this: do Paul, Ray and KG feel their legacy as the Big Three is threatened by the new Big Three of Bosh, LeBron and Wade?

Certainly, there are similarities.  For starters, they all play the same positions as each other (Paul and LeBron, Bosh and KG, Wade and Ray).  They were all the number one options on their teams before getting together.  Let's say, however, that the new Big Three win more titles than the Celtics' Big Three.  Would basketball fans then look back at the Celtics' Big Three "era" and say they did not really deserve their Big Three title because they won less titles?

On a side note, I can't imagine the star power that will be clashing when the Heat meet the Celtics this upcoming season. It should be epic!

The term "Big Three" doesn't mean anything anymore.  If a team has three players that score in double figures, someone will annoint them a "Big Three" nowadays.

Celtics need to worry about themselves.  It's about winning as a team.  I don't think anyone can deny that a threesome of LeBron, Wade and Bosh is better than KG, Pierce and Ray.  But basketball is played 5 on 5, and not on paper.  It comes down to playing the games.

I do wonder if these guys would have gotten together if not for being inspired by what our 3 were able to do once Ainge brought them together.

If you think about it, what is wrong with players taking matters into their own hands instead of waiting for a GM to bring them together like Ainge did? I much prefer players picking teams the way Bosh and Lebron (minus the stupid hour long program) did over the way Kobe and Pierce complained about their supporting casts until GMs made moves.

As for me, I don't see Lebron and Co's "Potential" legacy hurting PGA's. I say this because "Big Three" was 1st used to label our very own Larry, Chief and McHale back in the day.

By The Boston Celtics winning Banner 17 in 07-08, our current Big Three just continued the Celtics' Legacy.

And our squad isn't done yet, either. We have one (maybe two) more shots at this.

Yes - MIA does have a "Big Three" now...but they cannot hope to even begin a legacy until they start winning. It is all on them now...even with Wade, he was riding the fading coattails of Shaquille O'Neal when he won his lone title.

Lebron has never won anything, either...and Bosh? He failed to elevate TOR by himself.

MIA, even with the talent they have now, has to learn how to win...together. No matter how much lip service they give the media, they have to do it on the court.

Sacrifices will have to be made..just like our Big Three (and the 80's Big Three) did.

And to me, the dark horse in MIA's success will be PG. Mark it down.

Even back in 07-08, I think Rajon was a top 10 or 15 PG.

And Chalmers? Arroyo? Where do they rank right now?

In the end, our Big Three will be known for helping to make Rondo a top PG, and Perk a top Defensive Center.

Only time will tell if Lebron and Co. will truly make the players around them better. To me, that will be a big part of their legacy, just like ours.

They should. Bill Russel told KG he expected them to win 2 or 3 rings. Jordan told Ray he only won in 2008 because he was lucky. Pierce runs his mouth about Celtic tradition and then loses in game 7 for the 1st time in Cs history.

As far as I'm concerned, they should all feel threatened. Remember that 3 year window we all went on and on about? If game 7 wasn't proof enough that it was shut, The Heat look like they're here to board it up.

What legacy? I think had KG, Pierce and Ray gotten together in their prime, thye'd have raised 4-6 titles, they're that good together.

I also think had they closed out game 7 and put up two titles they could start talking about a legacy if they made another great run and a title, 3 in four years or even if they win this coming year, 2 in four years, etc...with a 5 point game 7 loss in a 3rd year...

I disagree about the PG being the big question.  Wade or LBJ could bring the ball over half court.  After that they could do their Harlem Globetrotter act.

Biggest question I think is chemistry.  Among the "big three" and with whoever they get.  I think center is more important for them than pg.

Winning another championship is the only motivation the Celtics' New Three should have especially after the near-miss of this past season.

 One other thing to get straight. They called them the Big Three because they were all *big*. Three great players, all 6'9 or taller. Kind of a "clean" double entendre. PP, Ray, Wade, they don't really fit the bill.
