LeBron's legacy will be the Dominique Wilkens of the '00/'10s

Now that the man's hogged the spotlight of years and has finally hit an all time media nadir with an hour long special on how *special he is* ... soon, the world will start to turn on him, as stories about him and Wade feuding over possessions, etc, boil over onto him being a type of marquee player, who was mistaken for a Messiah.

I predict that Bernard King/Dominique Wilkens will find their respective successors in a LeBron James.

Not sure I see the correlation, considering Wilkins played his entire career with the Hawks, and just when they finally had the best team around him and best chance to win a title, they go ahead and trade him for Danny Manning.

Perhaps that's what he was afraid of-being a great, generational player that never won on the big stage.  I suppose he thinks it better to go to the HOF with titles as part of a dynasty than to go to the hall as a generational talent that couldn't carry a team to the title.  We'll see how it works out.

Yeah I agree , I don't see the correlation. Wilkins didn't want to leave at all. Wasn't his decision. I happen to think that the Hawks gave away their championship team in 94. Not a guarantee but they would've certainly been in the running. I remember how the beat the rockets (the eventual champs that year) Senseless during the regular season.

I had a thought last night about this going bad as well...suppose they don't win a championship after being together 5 seasons,what then?Also,they keep referencing our Big3 to be similar to their situation,which is a big  mistake on their part.First,our Big 3 had more NBA years under their belts before they came together,and less likely to get itchy feet if things didn't work out.Lebron&Bosh are still young enough to make another move if things don't go their way.

Yeah I don't think it works either.  Wilkens never joined two other superstars.  I hope this blows up in his face, but if it doesn't no one is going to remember his first 7 years in the league.

He failed at being a Michael Jordan type, so he's going to try to be a Magic Johnson type.  I lost a lot of respect for him but he's still head and shoulders above King and Wilkins.

Indeed, Barkley left philly to join Phoenix which was looked at as a "Super team" with Majerle,KJ,ainge or even going to Houston to join olajuwon & drexler. I see that as a better comparison.

I dunno about that.  I think it will be remembered that he failed at being "the man" and was successful as a piece of the puzzle.
