Why does everyone think its a good idea to bring in Kwame Brown?  Wouldn't it be better to keep Scal for the vet minimum?  He can spread the floor and fill in for multiple positions.  He knows this team and he certainly does not have an excess of minutes under his belt.  We KNOW Scal can contribute.  We don't know if Kwame is even worth the vet min.

we need as many players who won't give up buckets in the lane as we can greedily get our hands on.

I'm open to other ideas for a backup center.

Who else? Ben Wallace?

We need rebounding and defense.  Kwame is competent at both.  We also need depth at center with Perk out and J.O. injury prone.

I think Kwame can help, and if he's willing to take the minimum, I think he'd be a good signing.

Good points.

Besides, I'm still holding out (some) hope that Sheed will eventually do a PJ Brown & join us for the playoffs.

Didnt think of that!

I dont suspect that Rasheed will be keeping in shape like PJ did. We might be getting this guy for a playoff run

This man clearly clogs the lane better than any other player in league.  He doesn't follow the NBA dress code though.

Because ultimately we'd have to play KG or BBD as backup center if Scal was here, which isn't ideal.  With Kwame, he becomes our backup center (which is OK) during much of the regular season and our new Shelden once Perk comes back.

I wouldn't be against Scal as the 6th big, but Luke H. likely has that locked down at a cheaper price.

Completely agree, but it makes total sense for Brown to go to Miami if he's going to take the minimum. He lives in FLA and won't have to play behind JO or Perk. Oh, and he'd be playing with James, Wade and Bosh.

Wow can you imagine if he goes there? He would have played with 3 generations of "greatest player on earth" guys. MJ, Kobe, LeBron (Wade too).

The first 2 failed to get anything out of the guy. I wonder if anything has changed now (not that Kwame would have to really do anything beside board and defend).

Plus the minimum contract is worth more in Miami with no state income tax. Probably only about $50,000 difference but still, when you're making the minimum, you gotta take whatever you can get. And yeah, starting or even playing significant minutes alongside Lebron and Wade is gonna get him a lot more attention than mopup duty in Boston.
Go Celtics.

Makes sense.  50 grand buys a nice black Escalade to cruise down the boulevard on South Beach.
