I hope we are trying to maneuver Sheed's contract as a piece in this trade.

http://proxy.espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/17823/can-miami-pull-off-beasley-trade

Celtics send Sheed and get Ariza or Battier
*Most likely Battier who is expiring

Bobcats Send Chandler and get Beasley/Jeffries
*Just like mentioned in the article

Rockets Send Ariza or Battier along with Jeffires and get Chandler
*Get Yao insurance and depth at C
*Already have Kevin Martin and Budinger
*Could use MLE to replace Battier or Ariza

Heat Send Beasley and get Sheeds retiring contract

Picks and money might have to be exchanged too but it sounds like Toronto is holding this up so Boston could give it a shot.

Thoughts?

I like this idea, although I'm not sure Houston would trade Battier, even if they get Chandler back (and especially if they can get Chandler without giving up Battier).

But I would be really glad if we could get Battier, the guy is the perfect fit for this Celtics team, although we lack a scoring 6th man rather than a lockdown wing defender with 3 point shooting.

Yeah but we didn't really have a scoring sixth man when we won the title. We had a pretty good back up small forward, who was intelligent, had heart and who stretched the floor with his 3 ball.

Chances are if we don't do it then someone else will... Just saying there are rebuilding teams like the Kings (just an example) that probably won't care if they are getting an asset.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
It'd be nice to have another character guy like Ray on the team--Battier is definitely one of those guys, and he is a solid defender.
