Does anyone think that Howard really is going to get the MLE?

Travis Outlaw just signed a 7 year, 35 million dollar deal

5 year.  There are no seven-year contracts in the NBA anymore, and you can only get six years by re-signing with your existing club.

This is from Yahoo. I would be all for it assuming we don't use Sheed's deal in a S+T. The guy was always a good scorer and would be a nice susbstitue for Pierce assuming he is healthy. IF he is healthy is big though because Tony Allen took a long time to get back to 100% after his knee injury and J-Ho and Ta's injuries seem smilar.

Realistically, using Sheed to S&T for Howard is probably the only way we could get him. We have no MLE left, and I can't see Howard settling for minimum money.

Another option would be to use Davis, Tony, and/or Nate in a double sign and trade. But would Washington want any of them in exchange?

That's actually impossible, well possible, just insane for the Wizards to do that. It'll still cost them money to buy out rasheed contract, Wizards arent in the business to help the C's.

Howard is my #1 wanted player for us for next year. I'd be very excited to get him . It's a risk with the knee but if we made the deal I'd trust it was a good gamble. As far as the pot stuff goes, well I think the C's would have to trust he'd agree to wait until the off season.I doubt that would be a problem. The guy is super talented. He's the ideal 6th man. Can you imagine a healthy jermaine o'neal and Josh Howard added to our other 5? If they were all healthy? Big Ifs but that's what we'd be shooting for.
Wanting Ryan Gomes over Josh Howard? Who's doing the smoking? :P

In one thread we have people saying we cant get Delonte for the Vet minimum.

In this thread we have people saying we can get Josh Howard to come here for the minimum.

Both notions are absolutely crazy.

TP for this. Josh Howard is an excellent, productive NBA player, regardless of whether he had the stones to admit to doing what 65% of NBA players do just as frequently anyway -- get high.

Not that I think it will happen, but the Celts could send them a draft pick and the cash to buy out Sheed.

Of course. The news Wiz owner plans to rebuild using picks and financial responsibility ala the Thunder, like he did with the Capitols. Think he wouldn't take a pick and some cash to ship out a guy he'll likely lose anyway? No brainer. Same goes for Mike Miller.

It makes a lot of sense if the Celtics sent the cash necessarry to buy out Sheed. Then the Wizards just get free picks to help perform a trade for a guy who was going to leave anyway. Might as well get something instead of nothing. Makes sense for the C's too because then Sheed becomes a FA and has options, a lot like PJ Brown did, if he decides to change his mind midway through the season.

I like Howard, but I don't see a scenario where he ends up on the C's.  He is going to get more than the minimum, and I don't see a sign and trade that makes sense with the Wizards unless the C's throw in a first round pick or something...and Howard may be too big of a risk forthat.

If Howard were going to leave anyway, and the Cs threw in 2mil instead of a pick, or the 2mil and a (albeit late) 2nd round pick, would the Wiz do it? Why not? Help pay for Arenas....

Well, it depends on Sheed's buyout.  I personally think he has already arranged a buyout that will be paid by the team that trades for him.  So that would probably wipe out the cash the C's send.

Now, if the Wizards were interested in someone like Tony Allen or Nate Robinson, then perhaps something could be worked out.  But the Wizards are one of the few teams that has little use for Sheed's contract...particularly in a sign and trade.

They were probably in contact with his agent before we threw all of the MLE at Jermaine O'neal.  If he's willing to sign for the vet min, I just can't see him choosing Boston over Miami.

I agree, that this was probably an MLE tire kickier before we signed O'Neal.

Would love to see Howard here. He could play two positions for us, making it easier in substitution patterns.

I agree. Howard is an all-star caliber player. I would like to get him on a 2-3 year deal. Maybe the Wiz would throw in another piece to go with him. I do think Howard could be a prime candidate to go to Miami for the vet min.

Howard would be a steal for Sheed's contract. A steal. Go for it, Danny.
