Per Jeff Goodman on FOXSports:

Source told FOXSports.com Miami Heat have offered Mike Miller 5-year deal worth 27-30 million with deadline tonight.

This makes no sense to me. They can't get that far under the cap.

How is that possible cap wise? I don't see it unless it's a S&T for Beasley.

How does that work?  Do they have an "extra" $6M in cap space beyond what they'll need if LeBron signs?

Or, does this mean that LeBron's not coming to South Beach?

All the math I've seen indicated that re-signing Wade, plus signing Bosh, plus signing LeBron wasn't going to leave enough cap space left to sign ANYONE for much more than the vet minimum, given the number of number of roster spots than need to be filled.

Must be a S&T proposal for Beasley, that's all that would make sense.

Ok he just tweeted

.Miller has been told by Miami that the team is "confident" LeBron is coming. Miller could likely earn more money with New York Knicks.

Ok this makes no sense. If they are confident that Lebron is coming, then how can they sign MM?

This must mean that at least one of the following is true:  1) Lebron isn't signing with Miami; 2) Lebron, Wade, and/or Bosh are getting less than the maximum; or 3) Beasley will be sent out in a sign-and-trade.

If James would indeed choose Miami, It would be funny if Miller signs BEFORE James and it causes them the inability to sign a star. They have made that mistake before, when they signed PJ Brown prior to Juwan Howard. That caused Stern to consider the Howard signing void because they went over the cap to do so.

Do you mean less than the maximum?

even if Beasley is sent out, is that enough to sign lebron, wade, bosh, and still give 27 million to Miller?

And Washington still has Arenas on the team. I'm sure Arenas and Beasley would provide a great environment for Wall.  ;D

Only if the 3 of them all take less to make room for him under the cap. Something I doubt.

To me this shows that Lebron is not going to Miami.

Okay, here's Miami's best case cap scenario, if their "big three" take max deals:

Lebron: $16.6 million
Bosh:  $16.6 million
Wade:  $16.6 million
Beasley: $5 million
Chalmers: $0.85 million

Cap Hold (x8) = $3.8 million

Joel Anthony: renounced (could re-sign for minimum deal)

With all of the above, the Heat are actually over the cap, at $59.45 million.  That means that to sign Miller, each of the free agents would have to take less, and Beasley would have to be included in a sign-and-trade.

So, this scenario works:

Beasley traded straight up for Miller
Miller signs for $5 million
"Big three" sign for $16 million each

That would bring the Heat to $57.65 million, or very slightly below the cap.

...and still without a point guard to distribute the ball.
