I'm scratching my head a little on this. They already have Courtney Lee & Terrence Williams, and I personally like both of those guys over Outlaw (at the very least I think it's fair to say they're in the same ball park). On top of that they just added Damion James who has looked OK during the two games I've watched.

I guess a sharp shooter is a good addition to the core of Lopez & Harris, but I'm with you guys, I'm not crazy about this one.

I'm scratching my head too. They have Lee and Williams who isn't that far off. Plus Damion James looks real good in summer league, 30 points yesterday.

Yeah, I understand the move cause he's not a bad fit and the wings there are somewhat undeveloped but the cost is way too high.

I just hope Tony wants to play for a winner cause I'll miss him when Kobe scores 40 on us next year. I would give Tony 4 years 20 mill max and that's on the high side. He would be great at 4 yrs 15 mill though.

Confidence in Russian Mark Cuban just plummetted. Guess they are out of the Bronstakes.

Agent: Nets, Outlaw agree to deal

Forward Travis Outlaw has agreed to a five-year, $35 million deal with the Nets, his agent, Bill Duffy, told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.

The 25-year-old Outlaw averaged 8.7 points and 3.6 rebounds in 23 games for the Los Angeles Clippers after being acquired as part of a trade that sent Marcus Camby to the Portland Trail Blazers. In 11 games for Portland last season, Outlaw averaged 9.9 points and 3.5 rebounds.

Drafted in the first round by Portland in 2003, Outlaw has averaged 9.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in seven NBA seasons.

There goes one of the wings off the board.  IMO Outlaw got a very good deal is getting overpaid now.  No way we were going to spend that much on him, not that we even could.

Poop.

That's a lot of money for a guy that's pretty much a one-trick pony on the offensive end.  Something like 85% of his shot attempts were jumpers.  He hits a good percentage of them, but not like he's Mike Miller good.

Worst part is that probably sets a floor on how much Miller gets paid.  Confirmation that Miller's most likely an above-MLE player.  Think our only chance, if that's a direction we want to pursue, is a sign-and-trade with Washington, get Miller to agree to 'Sheed's contract + 25% and give Washington something like a protected 1st rounder for their help.  Hate giving up draft picks knowing that we'll have to rebuild soon, but don't see how we'll get a premier backup wing any other way.

We'll see just how much Miller wants to win. If he wants the dough, the Clippers are probably his best bet. But if he really wants to be on a winner then sign and trade to Boston for Sheed seams like the way to go.

I thought Miller would be a slam dunk for the MLE. For $40/5.... I'm not so sure.

Kind of confused why the Nets would sign a wing though, when they could be getting the ultimate wing tonight, unless Outlaw is their backup to LeBron.
The owner doesn't think that they will land Lebron. They have lots of cap space and need to start adding players.

Overpaid though.

If LeBron doesn't go to Chicago, Mike Miller makes a ton of sense there.  Would be very complementary and make them a legit contender.  Got Rose as the slasher, Boozer's solid inside game, Noah's garbage points, rebounding, and D, Deng's solid play all around; add Miller's shooting, and that's a very strong, balanced squad.

They've got the cap space left to sign him, and probably to re-sign Brad Miller for a year or two (if they haven't renounced him yet).
