Have those of you who say he has nothing to offer even looked at his stats from last years regular season? Not bad at all for playing 28 mins a game. He is by far the most talented reserve at that position available and is the youngest of the options.

(reg season stats 13.6 ppg 6.9 rpg, 1.4 blk in 28 min. how is that bad?)

Regular Season Ranks

    * Ranks #23 in the NBA in Rebounds Per Game (6.9)
    * Ranks #8 in the NBA in Field-Goal Percentage (0.529)
    * Ranks #18 in the NBA in Blocks Per Game (1.36)
    * Ranks #1 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds (362)
    * Ranks #23 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds Per Game (5.2)
    * Ranks #1 in the NBA in Blocks (95)

    * Ranks #1 in the NBA in Double-doubles (14)
    * Ranks #17 in the NBA in Field Goals Per 48 Minutes (9.5)
    * Ranks #21 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds Per 48 Minutes (8.7)
    * Ranks #29 in the NBA in Rebounds Per 48 Minutes (11.7)
    * Ranks #17 in the NBA in Blocks Per 48 Minutes (2.29)
    * Ranks #23 in the NBA in Efficiency Ranking Per 48 Minutes (26.73)

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Thank you this is exactly what i was trying to say without the stats. People over emphasis one admitedly horrible playoff series. Its ironic in a way cause Ray Allen had a pretty awful finals that people don't seem to bring up very often.

Guys who is really better? Seriously? We are not getting Dwight Howard or Yao Ming. This is a backup center, that will start in the beginning of the year. I have not heard one realistic alternative to the bashing of shaq, brad miller and now O'Neal. This is not a fantasy basketball league. We have a lot of money tied up in KG, Pierce Rondo hopefully Allen. To a lesser extent we are paying Perkins. Eventually your gonna sign less talented guys to fill the roster. I think he would be a great signing

I totally agree. It is very doubtful we can land a guy like Haywood for the MLE, nor will Dallas do a S&T with us to land him. JO is by far the best candidate. He is a much better fit than Brad Miller or Shaq. Honestly, I hope we can land 2 of those 3 and give ATL some cap relief by taking Marvin Williams off their hands for Sheed's expiring.

PG-Rondo/Nate/ABradley
SG-Ray/TA
SF-Pierce/Williams/Gaffney
PF-KG/BBD/Luke
C-JO/Miller/Perk

This is so crazy to sit back and think about sometimes.  Think of the names that have been on the Celtics over the past 3 years.  So weird to see some of these guys come in here and put on Celtic uniforms.

KG, Rasheed Wallace, Sam Cassell, PJ Brown, Possibly Jermaine O'Neal, Possibly Shaq, Ray Allen, Michael Finley.

Three years ago I wouldve laughed and told you to get out of my house if you tried to convince me that these players would all be on the Celtics at some point over the next several years.....on top of the fact that PIERCE would still be on the team

Has he done anything productive at all in the last couple of years?
I know he's had injuries, but he plays like a dog.

He played well in the regular season for Miami.  He was terrible in the playoffs, but I believe he was playing hurt.  I believe Wade revealed that he was playing hurt but didn't complain about it.  The fact that it wasn't mentioned during the playoffs was a testament to him, imo.

I'd love to have JO.

Jermaine would be a terrific signing. If he can be had for less than the MLE, he is an absolute steal.

I've thought the same thing too.  Too bad it's not 2000.  Still, most of these guys still can help.

I'm not keen on HOW good of a defensive player he is now but if he was a very good defensive player I would be a little excited to get him for a PORTION of the mid-level. I have already given up on his offensive game when it's needed  and I would expect he would still be a fair at best rebounder.

I don't know what stats are these and where you dug them up. But there is no way he lead the NBA in double-doubles with 14. Unless, of course, this is a snapshot after 20 games in the season, or something. A lot of the other numbers look off as well.

Yeah, I was just looking at Carlos Boozer's game logs this afternoon; he had like sixty double-doubles last season.
