Carlos Boozer signs with the bulls.

Quote
Carlos Boozer is the latest domino to fall, agreeing to a five-year, $80 million contract with the Chicago Bulls, a source close to the negotiations told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher on Wednesday.

Boozer follows agreements by premier free agents Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami, Amare Stoudemire with the Knicks and Joe Johnson in Atlanta.

The Bulls are still in the running for LeBron James, who is going to make an announcement Thursday on ESPN. But Chicago would have to do some creative financing to fit the superstar under the cap after this deal.

Boozer average 19.5 points and 11.2 rebounds per game for the Utah Jazz last season, his sixth with the team. In his eight-year career, he has averaged 17.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest.

Boozer's name has come up in trade discussions involving the Bulls numerous times over the past few years.

They give him a max contract. And i could see the team as a real contender if they can get ray or mike miller. Thoughts?

Boozer to Bulls is "done deal."

He's the most overrated of this offseason's F.A. catches, but certainly will help the Bulls at the 4.

They have no idea how lucky they were on losing Bosh. DWill is a pick and roll PG, and is considered the best PG in the game... Boozer is a better fit with Rose than Bosh would be. This is huge.

Bulls could have done way better, they dropped the ball.  They are only going to get Boozer after all that...

awesome! Lebron wanted to be the first of the big FA's to decide, and it looks like he will be the last.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
The Bulls and Knicks seem like front runners for Ray now--he's just the type of piece they need to contend.

But, oof, Chicago overpaid badly. Like Rudy Gay, Boozer isn't able to shoulder the burden of winning games - isn't nearly worth franchise money.

And I don't expect the Jazz to skip a beat with Millsap (who's four year $32 million dollar deal suddenly seems a steal) and Kirilenko taking all Boozer's minutes.

true, but boozer actually plays with his back against the basket. That's what the bulls have consistently lacked over the last 5 years. Solid signing.
