If they get Boozer and/or Lebron they need a shooter. They will over pay for Ray and we can get younger and get Deng in a sign and trade.

I really like Deng but there are problems with him.
1. His contract is long and large
2. He plays the same position Pierce does

I think for us to pick up a player with that long of a contract we would need to get a first or a young player as part of a sign and trade.

Deng is an excellent rebounder and could help some of our woes on the glass.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

If Ray is getting a contract bigger then the Celtics want, this type of trade would work.

Didn't GP and Chris Webber have one of the funniest moments of NBAtv when they described Luol Deng holding the Chicago Bulls up at gun point when they gave him that enormous contract?  No thanks.

I would absolutely love that, but i don't think even LAC would do that.

I'm not a fan of Ray for Deng if there are other S&T options out there.

If Ray leaves in a S&T then the Celtics will be left with two needs:  Center & SG who can spread the floor.  Deng doesn't fit either of those, and like has been mentioned before he plays the same position as Pierce.

Things would really have to fall in place for that to happen.  I don't see them getting LeBron.  I see them adding Boozer.  But at that point they'd likely be better off trying to keep Deng and just sign Allen.

But even that'd I'd say is a long shot.  Without LeBron, they're not going to be contenders.  So it's really not worth their while to trade a young wing for an old one.

I agree. I just think bringing back Ray is a mistake. It will bloat the salary and age of the team and I just dont think he's a starter worthy of 25+ minutes a game anymore. He'd be a great 6th-7th man.

I'd rather Ray walk than take back Deng's contract

While we are at it, why don't we just clean their arena after we play there too.

Co-sign with a TP.

Deng's contract is horrific.

Well, I'd probably take it if Ray really wants to go to Chicago and they put that on the table.

He's 24 averaged 17.6 and 7.3. So he hasn't reached his peak is an elite defensive player and can board. Maybe his contract isn't great now but I think he grows into it.
