Honestly this thread is creepy.

Being a fan = cool
Being a fanatic = not cool

Dude, go out and get yourself an ice cream cone and relax. If you are that wrapped up in the Boston Celtics, that on July 6th you expect our coach and GM to run around like mad men in a summer league game, then something isn't right with you. You care a little bit too much and that's scary. It's not healthy either. Seriously, chill.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
If Danny and Doc got all ancy every time they have a busy offseason, they wouldn't have slept since.....ever.

Summer 06- traded #7 overall for telfair and Theo the golden contract ratliff.

Summer 07- traded a crappy team for an awesome team.

Summer 08- we got um...Patrick O'Bryant? Is that right? For some reason that summer was a blur...it must have been a busy spring.

Summer 09- Thought about trading Rajon Rondo. Came to senses.

Summer 10-........yeah.

Yeah man, Danny has one heart attack and Doc River's hair hasn't grown beyond 3 millimeters since 1987. These men have stress in their lives...they just carry it well.

Wow, and I'm the one that needs to chill? I just thought it was either very reassuring or kind of unsettling. Is he just chilling till Lebron makes his mark? Does he already have guys lined up (some that I mentioned - or others we don't know about)?

Everyone seems to be saying get a life; but the post could also be seen as a request for info/insight. What do you think they should do. Of our own FA's who should they sign after Ray. The team option on Marquis, how does that work and when do they have to decide? Just seems like a very unsettling time for all fans and I can only assume for the managers and coaches as well. Glad they can chill - and yes maybe I should too; but would love to know what they are chatting about (just healthy curiosity perhaps). Not finding the summer league prospects very reassuring so they must know something we don't. If that means that Ray is back - cool. If they are just trying to impress Lawrence Frank and make him think they have it all figured out that is also cool.

I honestly don't see the big deal about Danny & Doc looking relaxed...so?

Free Agency hasn't even been in progress for an entire week, just 6 days. Deals can't even be officially signed (just verbally agreed to as of July 1st) by free agents until tomorrow (July 8th). Lebron is going to make his decision Thursday at 9 PM EST. Until THAT at least happens, what's the big deal what ANY front office does, let alone the one for the Celtics?

Seriously, the real fun has yet to start. Let's enjoy it, not worry about what may or may not happen.

Anyone else get a little uneasy watching Danny and Doc's body language at the Summer League Games. Do they know something we don't know. Obviously; but from their attitude you would think they had signed both Ray (or Mike Miller) and Brad Miller (or Brandon Hayward) to two year deals.

Even if we take Lafayette, Carroll, Gaffney, Harangody and Parakhouski (not my idea of a good haul), we have no back up PG (Nate's status???), no starting SG (Ray's status???), no backup SF (What is the status on the team option on Marquis???), no starting Center (???). With BBD and Harangody as backup PF's need some size in the middle. Or conversely if BBD is a backup C we need size @ PF. Don't see the big picture here???
Really? You are obsessing over how stressed they look?

Danny is kinda in a jam with his available moves right now

How so? Other than resigning Ray Allen, he has options.

MLE
Sheed's contract
S+T TA
S+T Nate
Draft picks
Veteran minimums

TA can fetch $3-5M, same with Nate. Sheed can bring back up to $7.9M. The MLE will probably be somewhere around $5.5M

That's a lot of available money for some creative trades and signings.

I don't think Ainge is sitting around waiting, as he knows much better than any of us to what the climate is like right now (basically, unless you are going to drastically overpay a player right now, they are waiting for the big names to sign). Danny, enjoy Orlando and see if there's any diamonds in the rough. Next week is when he is gonna start wheeling and dealing IMO.

It takes two to tango.

Obviously, but other than having to resign Paul and most likely Ray, he does have options.

We have desirable assets (TA is already garnering interest, and I'm sure Nate is/will), most notably 'Sheed, who may even come back for all we know.

His hands are most definitely not tied. The only bad thing right now was losing the LLE on Daniels, but it looked WELL worth it at the time.

There are a lot of teams out there...

I love their attitude.  I love that they seem to genuinely like each other.  I love that they laugh together, work together and seem to enjoy what they do...but most of all I love the team they have assembled and the heights that team has reached...together!

I agree, nothing about them seem forced. Both have great relationships with the players.

Ainge makes Doc look good with great players and personnel (Ainge brought in Tom T, correct?), and Doc made this summer a whole lot easier on Ainge by coming back, so you bet there's a love fest going on right now between the two of them lol.

I'm glad to see them relaxed.  It's a heck of a lot better than panicky.
