What is your realistic dream team for next season with the Rasheed contract, our mid-lvel,and veteran minimums out there to use?

Very tough to do right now given how much is up in the air.  I think the C's are going to have to be beggars rather than choosers in many ways (for instance, will Mike Miller be available at the MLE or not?).  I think we need a few days to say where the big stars land first.

Not sure what is realistic for Rasheed Wallace. The trades that will be likely available (eg Barbosa or Nocioni) don't excite me much. There is a chance that one of the top names (Beasley, Varejao, Marvin Williams) become available but I'm going to leave that out for now because it's far from certain.

I reckon Mike Miller is out of play. I think he'll go to Cleveland if he accepts the MLE or to a team like the Clippers or Knicks for more than the MLE if they strike out in free agency.

Starters: Rondo + Ray + Pierce + Garnett + Perkins
Rotation: Bradley + Tony + D.Wright + BBD + Kwame
Reserves: Carney + Singleton + Nesterovic or J.Powell

I can't imagine putting Kwame Brown and Rasho Nesterovic on my Dream Team.    >:(

Painful for me too!

I dislike the MLE options this year with the exception of Mike Miller. A lot of bad options out there.

Who is counting on a miracle cure for Perkins :)

I think M. Williams will be available, all that has to happen is Childress signs the offer sheet.

Anyways I'll go with a top 12 of:

Rondo, Ray, Marvin, KG, Shaq
rotation: Tony, Pierce, BBD, Sheldon
IR until ASB: Perk
reserves: AB, Harangody

Hopefully AB can steal Tony's minute, but if not I'm fine with him as the backup guard.

And yes - I doubt Pierce goes to the Manu role, but I think it would help the team.

Ok so I would prob trade Sheed's contract + Baby for Josh Smith. (It works, but Atl prob wouldn't do it).

I would sign Shaq and Allen Iverson for vet min and resign both Ray Allen and Tony Allen.

And for MLE I would get Mike Miller.

Starters: Rondo, Ray, KG, Pierce and Smith

Rotation: Bradley, Shaq, Iverson, Tony Allen and Mike Miller

And we would add Perks to the rotation once he comes back.

Reserves: i have no clue

Alright that would be my dream team; and hopefully it's financially realistic.

Staying within the realm of possibility (because I could dream of signing Wade for the MLE and trading 'Sheed's contract for LeBron in a S+T), my ideal team would look a something like this:

Rondo/Nate/Bradley
Ray/Miller
Pierce/TMac
KG/Baby
Perk/Haywood(or Shaq)/BigBen

For Mike Miller, S+T with Washington for a S+T of TA, 'Sheed's contract, a pick or two (whatever gets it done, 2 seconds, a future first, whatever) and maybe some cash. Unlikely I suppose, but to give Washington a draft pick, a defensive stopper, and cash for basically nothing, why would they turn it down. Plus we could give Miller more than the MLE, which will entice him. IF that doesn't work, offer the same package to Atlanta for Childress.

Then getting Haywood for the MLE would be a longshot, but if that won't work, I guess I wouldn't mind Shaq instead.

I'd love my chances next season with those 12 (fill the remaining spots with whomever, Harangody/Gaffney/Lafayette....heck, can we keep Scal on the sidelines for morale? That's worth a vet min deal, no?)

My Dream team for november:

Rondo/Bradley/
Ray/Morrow/TMac
Pierce/Tony/Wittman
KG/Randolph/Harangody
Shaq/Gadzuric/Artsiom/(Perk)

That is:

Sheed+Davis+Erden+Nate(ST)+cash to GS for Gadzuric+Randolph+Morrow(ST)
Shaq for the MLE or most of it
TMac for the rest of the MLE or vet min
Resign the Allens

Then, at the trade deadline

Rondo/Tony/Bradley
Ray/Morrow/TMac
Pierce/Battier/Wittman
KG/Randolph/Harangody
Perk/Shaq/Artsiom

I hope not, but probably Yao will be hurt again, and Houston will need frontcourt depth.

trade Gadzuric for Battier.

and then a totally crazy scenario: Greg Oden injures again, and we trade Gadzuric+rookie for Oden+Rudy+future pick  ;D

That GSW trade is an absolute pipe-dream.

And your "dream team" in the playoffs is TA backing up the point.... c'mon lol.... his ballhandling is downright scary at times.

I wouldn't mine Battier though in a Posey-esque role, tight defense and three point shooting, although I'm not sure if he could do either quite as well as Pose. But he may be a bit too costly for us, as far as what he brings to the table.

Tony did it most of the time in the 2010 playoffs. Maybe Bradley could play the 4 minutes Rondo will be off the court, but I wouldn't count on a rookie. Ray and Paul (and TMac by the way) are very capable of dribbling. Rebounding and length was what the Celtics were missing the most in the playoff.

The GS trade is a pipe dream? what about having Haywood for the MLE? the thread title is "Dream Team". Let Danny make the real plays.

And I didn't like TA doing it this year, once Doc finally trusted Nate, I think he exceeded expectations. Anyone with as ugly a J and reckless ballhandling should not be the ideal backup PG... I am more than willing to give Avery the chance to start the season, whether that turns into MPG's and not DNP's is anybody's guess. And I agree that we have 2/3's that can run the point, but who defends the point when Rondo sits?

I made my disclaimer that Haywood would be highly unlikely lol, but who knows, maybe a guy takes a couple million less for a great chance at winning.

If a 26-win team trades away an expiring contract, a potential all-star, and a potential starter for cap relief, two solid backups and a completely unknown foreign stiff, heads would roll.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
I haven't given this a ton of thought, but I liked the Golden State idea I saw in another thread:

(Perk) / Shaq / B. Wallace
KG / BBD / B. Wright / L. Harangody
Pierce / Azubuike
Ray / Bradley
Rondo / Nate

(I'm not sure about the backup PG / SG.)

Or, we could move Rasheed + our non-guaranteed contracts to Washington for Foye and Miller:

(Perk) / Shaq / B. Wallace
KG / BBD / L. Harangody
Pierce / Miller
Ray / Tony / Bradley
Rondo / Foye

In either scenario, maybe see if Earl Watson would take a minimum deal, etc.
