Whether your perspective is that he played well or he played poorly, it's only 17 minutes of the kid's life.

Take aways: He's a BIG dude who can rebound. Having led the NCAA in boards, there was nothing last night that should disspell that skill. He played well against top programs like Kansas and Duke last year and you can see the he's got some chops. Considering our lack of depth and size up front, he's obviously worth a non-guaranteed camp contract.

There were two players who looked like they had a chance in the NBA that played for the Celtics tonight:

Those two players were Luke Harangody and Oliver Lafayette.

A couple of other players had decent games, but didn't really stand out as NBA-caliber players.

Still, it's just one game.  Lets wait till tomorrow and beyond before making any final verdicts.

Currently, we have Pierce, Garnett, Perkins, Rondo, Wallace, Davis, Bradley, and Erden. Until Erden is officially waived or Wallace retires, that's 8 sports.

From free agency, we will be looking to sign Ray Allen, Tony Allen and Nate Robinson, a backup wing and a backup big man. That's 5 more slots for a total of 13.

So it basically boils down to some of those summer league players proving they can be more useful than Marquis Daniels, Scal or Shelden Williams as roster filler. That's not a given.

In reality, the roster spots are not as many as it seems -- 2, maybe 3 if Erden is waived. So it might realistically boil down to having to pick whether to waive Erden to pick Parkhauski.

Classic Big stiff.  Unless he has some great ball skills that he did not show (which is possible, since they do not feed the post in the summer league), I don't see him sticking in the league.

I understand it's not a slam dunk. But you either have to sign them, or replace them with other veteran players (which for roster size purposes is essentially the same). I just don't think that anyone from the summer league lot is ready to fill in their roster slots. Same for the backup center/wing.

But yes, that's true -- any of these spots _may_ end up being given to a project type of player.
