After watching summer league Im convinced Semih is no the answer but I know what the answer is - his name is Art Parakhouski, this kid did not have a shaq type game but he is a killer on the boards, and i feel he is developing a offensive game, that is all focused on on the post which is valuable in the NBA nowdays.

Positive or negative, I wouldn't put too much stock in a Summer league game.

He was thoroughly outplayed by the whole OKC frontcourt. While I'm not saying he isn't an NBA player, he definitely has a lot more to prove.

There were two players who looked like they had a chance in the NBA that played for the Celtics tonight:

Those two players were Luke Harangody and Oliver Lafayette.

A couple of other players had decent games, but didn't really stand out as NBA-caliber players.

Still, it's just one game.  Lets wait till tomorrow and beyond before making any final verdicts.

And between those two, I'm much more excited about Harangody than Lafayette.  You could see Harangody doing the dirty work down low, getting tip-ins and even showing some range on his jumpshot.  Lafayette's offense was impressive but I didn't see anything spectacular defensively out of him.  Beyond all that Harangody fills a definite area of need in the frontcourt.  Seems like a heady player as well.

Agree completely. I thought the guy had a lot of those rebounds fall into his hands. He was terrible defensively and had absolutely no offense. Even if he was a decent rebounder and I'm wrong about that part, why would we give a contract to him with no other NBA skills?!

It's summer league--the ball was hardly ever fed to the big guys inside, but Art did okay with the  couple of times it went his way.  He was very active and getting himself positioned every time for every rebound, as well, and he wasn't so much overmatched on defense as he made several mistake s that he paid for.

Mullens and Ibaka were the best two big men in that game. Parakhouski rebounded well, but he didn't defend particularly well, nor did he show any offensive skills. Erden was athletic and long, but lost most of the time.

The way they were playing was definitely guard centric so I understand why he didn't do much. Maybe it was my grainy picture but half the time I couldn't tell the difference between him and Erden. But as I said before, the game plan focused on the guards so we will have to wait and see.

I liked what I saw from Parakhouski as a potential backup big who can grab some boards.  I did some reading on him and it turns out, he's 22 years old and never picked up a basketball until he was 16!  Seems like he still has quite a bit of room to learn and grow.  I wouldn't mind seeing him as a backup big or as a Red Claw next year.

It wasn't the game plan, it's the nature of Summer League which is wing and guard oriented.  The reason for this is that every guy out there is fighting for a job and they feel a need to score to get attention.  This makes it into a run-and-gun style.  It's really like pickup basketball frankly because they haven't been together long enough to even develop a team concept, much less execute it.  defense is minimal as well.

Erdin has more hair than Prakhouski.

nickagneta, you're exactly correct regarding SL overreaction.

He's younger than Erden and, unlike him, he's got a real basketball skill: rebounding.
