hey what do you guys think about ronnie brewer? He's a ufa and i think would be a nice pick up. Memphis did not offer him a qualifying offer so now he's unrestricted.
He's a sg/sf
he could be a really nice back up to pierce
he's only 25
a long body and can play some d
has a jump shot! (no offense to tony)
can steal the ball pretty well at 1.53 steals per last season,
and could learn a lot under pierce.

He sounds pretty good to me and he can be had for 3/4 of the MLE?

True, but I think I'd rather bring back Tony Allen, and keep our MLE intact.

Who for the MLE then? I think Brad Miller or Shaq can be had for the vet's min

Miller has been connected to Boston, Houston, and Orlando already. There will likely be a bidding war for him. Perhaps not for full MLE, but for part of it.

I think ditto for Shaq. Very few quality centers available via free agency.

I like it
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

The Celtics obviously have bigger concerns right now, with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen in limbo.

But Brewer would fill a lot of needs for the defending Eastern Conference Champs.

He would provide a replacement for Tony Allen, who the Celtics may decide not to re-sign.

Brewer is a good defender on a defensive-oriented team, so he would fit right in as an option off the bench.

He is also young, and youth is something the Celtics desperately need.

He doesn’t have the shooting that James Posey had, but he could potentially fill a similar role as Posey did a few years back.

i like him a lot. I'm not sure how quick e is but was the second leader in steals behidn Rondo so he can't be that bad. Stands 6-7 so its more lenght and he's 25 vs 28 (TA). This means he has room to grown and learn verus Tony maybe only going down from here. He povides youth and a better scoring option the Tony. Either would be fine but Ronnie would be better.
