I think the rotation tends to be about a third wing, rather than a fourth guard. Something like:
SF 30-35, SG 30-35, PG 35-40
- first wing off the bench 25-30
- first guard off the bench 15
I'd like the first wing off the bench to be a SF that could play small PF. I'm not a huge fan of small ball, but I think that would give us more flexibility. Then you can play the first guard at PG or SG to make for better rotations. Whether that guard is Tony Allen or AB - they'll be able to guard either position (as can Rondo) so it should work defensively to have more of a size guy as the first wing.
Since the starters will be: Pierce, Allen, Rondo
My ideal would be to pick up a wing like: Deng, Ariza, Battier, Marvin Williams (my preferred guy)
My ideal (playing wise, not off the court-wise) guy for combo guard would be West.
I saw a rumor earlier that West may also have a partially guaranteed contract, like Gomes, but that doesn't get picked up until later in the summer - if that's true, I wonder if he could be had for the minimum late in the off season. I'd love to get Williams for Sheed and something and then run a team of:
MLE Big / Vet Min Big / Perk
KG / Baby
Pierce / Williams
Allen / Pierce / AB
Rondo / AB
(replace AB with West on a one year deal if possible, give AB time to develop.)
