(Split off from the "Trade Sheed" thread because it was about bigger deals and one specific team)

Now that we've resigned pierce and are fully committed to winning now and restructuring the roster through trades (if at all), think danny should be talking to G.S. every day, they have pieces that could probably be had; helpful pieces that can fill out a playoff roster. And, to boot, golden state is constantly said to be in financial trouble, is hopefully looking to rebuild around curry and their new pick (i forget who) and cap space in the future.

Here's how I see it:

#1: For Wallace, the C's can take back 8 million in contracts.
#2: For Wallace+Lafayette+Gaffney = 9.9 mill
#3: Wallace+L+G+Baby = 13.658 mill
#4: Wallace+L+G+Perk = 16.021 mill
#5: Wallace+L+G+Perk+Baby = 19.771 mill

So there are some options. i know I keep hearing Ellis is available for the right price, as well as Biedrins; this could be golden state's chance to dump one of those two (i'd prefer biedrins: big body, finisher, rebounder, makes a little less than ellis) for instant savings; could the C's pick up one of those guys and an asset or two on the way?

I know people are very attached to Perk and Baby. However, Both look REALLY good because of what they are asked to do and by whom they are surrounded. I'm convinced Morrow, Azubuike, Wright, and Biedrins would look very good on this team. Additionally, both will be free agents after this year, and perk is back in december, will he be ready? It's okay to think outside the box a little.

So, would G.S., looking to save money, trade:
-Ellis+Randolph or Biedrins and Randolph for Package #3?
-Biedrins, Wright, Azubuike for package #4?
-Biedrins, Wright, Morrow in S+T for #4?
or the coup de grace:
-Biedrins, wright, Azubuike (or Morrow in a azubuike sized s+t), Turiaf for package #5?

In Package #5, they'd instantly save 4 million just from the trade, plus another 6+ million when sheed retires. They'd save 31.36 million from that point on since they're getting all expirings in the deal. The C's would have:

Rondo/Bradley
Ray (if Resigned)/TA (ditto)
Pierce/Azubuike
KG/Wright
Biedrins/Turiaf

Thoughts? Possible? does G.S. do any of those?

Well, I personally like Randolph and Biedrins for package #3. While I think Biedrins is way overpaid, and had inflated stats in his good years due to "Nellie Ball", I still think he could be a good piece. Randolph is gravy. He can help now and in the future with Rondo. Most importantly, I think our rebounding woes would be solved if we could manage this deal.

Bench:

Bradley
Allen
MLE signing outside shooter
Randolph
Biedrins

I think that would be the best bench in the league.

Could Randolph be had just for clearing Biedrins salary? No one knows for sure, but it certainly would be tempting from Golden State's perspective.

I would do #1 for Turiaf+Wright
or #2 for Biedrins

I really prefer to keep BBD as we could use the depth and continuity, not to mention the hard work he brings.  Plus I think he has limited trade value around the league anyway.

This is the one I like too.

But I like the scenario where we get Marvin Williams and then MLE Brendan Haywood too.

I don't want Biedrens.

I used to like him, but I haven't seen him improve.

I rather just find a fill in till Perk is back (Miller/Dampier) then to spend so much for so long.

I would do the Wallace for Wright and Azubuike right now.

If we were to get Beidrins, we can't afford to give up Perk. In the East, Beidrins is definitely a PF. He cannot guard the bruisers like Perk. I do think he would complement Perk very nicely going into the future with his athleticism.

Wanted to give this a bump because it relates to the front page Sheed article.

Interesting to see how all over the board people are on biedrins. Gotta say, I like him more than many, i guess. Also, his numbers aren't that inflated, as even his per minute numbers are really good year after year. so while it's a debateable downgrade in talent, the overall deals i mentioned hopefully made the overall team better by adding extra young pieces while still being something g.s. would consider. but we'll see.

I personally think perk was underrated nationally, but judging by the love he gets around here has become overrated locally. Throw in the fact he's injured and about to sign a new contract (and not be the same bargain) and I'd make the switch. But then again i'd like to watch a big man who can finish around the rim without having to bring the ball below his waste, but that's just me ;)

Cool to see all the opinions!
