With Perks injury and talk of loosing Ray, have not heard anyone pushing for a wing. Rumor is that Battier and Ariza may be on the block what would it take. Battier is making close to 7 mil. Ariza is 5.8. Perhaps Sheed's contract and some change would do it.

If we could get Ariza that would be a great addition to the team.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Since we're planning on resigning Allen and Pierce, Battier.

If we weren't...Ariza? But I wouldn't be excited about it.

I wish.

But Morey is a solid GM, he wouldn't give up Ariza for cap... He'd HAVE to get something solid in return.

If Ariza goes, it'll be in an S&T for Bosh, IMO
2021 Houston Rockets

SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan

Yeah, You don't dump those guys for nothing. Gotta give them something in return... maybe a 1st rounder (no) or Davis.

I don't know that they'd want someone with 4 years left on his contract coming back.

I think Houston would ask for Kendrick Perkins in return for either player.

Ok, premise is they are trying to clear space for two major contracts (Bosh or Amare + ?). They can't afford to have both Arisa and Battier. Battier would be huge coming off the bench. He would be a great glue guy who could also play the 4 in small lineups - great facilitator.

They are only on the block if it means getting Amare Stoudemire or Chris Bosh in return.

Hence, Sheed's contract only makes sense in a 3 team deal to either Toronto or PHX to facilitate a trade (ie: Sheed + Scola to PHX, Bosh to Houston, Ariza/Battier to Boston).

I'd take Ariza.
Celtics fan for life.

I wrote this in another thread about Ariza/Battier but I thought I'd re-post here since it's exactly on topic

Quote
I would rather Ariza than Battier.

I think Ariza's quickness and athleticism would be a great addition to the Celtics. It would be fantastic to see Rondo have a wing who fills the lanes like Ariza does.

Furthermore, Ariza is the better all-round offensive player due to his superior play in transition + cutting ability + offensive rebounding + ball-handling ability. Ariza is also a better rebounder and provides about 80% of what Battier does defensively. Add in the young age and Ariza's ability to be a long term fixture here in Boston, and, I think Ariza is the clear winner.
I forgot to mention Ariza's ability to finish in the paint. Another element of his offensive game that makes him the more effective player.

They are on the block in a deal to bring in a superstar.  They aren't on the block for what the C's are offering.

Now, the C's could potentially slip into a deal as a third team, but its unlikely.

But just to play along, I would go with Battier.  I am not a big fan of Ariza's attitude, and his game doesn't blow me away either.  But Battier would be perfect on the C's, and he comes off the books next year, if things don't work out.

Yep.   I could see a team like Toronto only wanting one of Ariza or Battier.  One of them could be shipped to Boston for Wallace in a three way trade.

Assuming they have Budinger who was coming on they don't need both.

In related news:

Along with Haywood, the Celtics also reached out to a couple of wing players, 6-7 guard/forward Antoine Wright of Toronto as well as 6-7 guard/forward Rasual Butler who averaged a career-high 11.9 points per game last season with the Los Angeles Clippers.
