I believe Cleveland will go into rebuild mode (and become a seller) if James leaves. That said, who from there roster would you be willing to absorb or sign and trade for using Sheeds expiring (if anyone)? He's about $2-3 million a season overpaid, but I was thinking Anderson Varejao might be an option. Or a S&T involving Shaq?

The key here would be to knab a big man without using the MLE.

I absolutely think they will be sellers, but I think Varajao will be one of the few guys they will want to keep, unless they are getting a star in return.

I'd like to get J.J. Hickson if they become sellers, but I feel he is one of the players they'd like to keep.

Yeah Hickson is more economical than most on that squad.

Whats they hype with Varejao? I know he killed the Celtics in regular season, but was a no show in the playoffs.

SideShow V is a hustle player who because of Lebron gets overrated. Lebron made a lot of guys filthy rich, when in actuality they are average at best. Another guy is Daniel Gibson. Lebron made him who he is & now sits on the bench making $5mil. And What about JJ Hickson? We know he can jump&dunk. But what else can he do? He can't operate in the post, He can't shoot, and is a terrible defender.

The only two guys I'd take from that roster are West & BigZ. The rest are bums.

Varejao fits what everyone is clamoring for, a big with energy who can hustle after rebounds, especially offensive rebounds.  I also wouldn't take lightly the fact that he made the All-Defensive second team while coming off the bench.

true, but how much does he make a year? in 2010/11 he will collect $7,000,000 and by 2013/14 he gets $9,100,000.

last year he averaged 8.6 points and 7.6 rebounds. nice, but is he worth that much money to the celtics?

i like him, but with that sort of loot, perhaps ainge could do a little better for the team. i really believe that the cavaliers overpaid for varejao to convince lebron that they were serious about winning and to keep him in cleveland.

with plan A gone, varejao is now an overpaid back up forward/center.

Based on the current market, I think Varejao is clearly worth more than the MLE.  How much more is the question.

Ainge doesn't operate based on current market, or else Rondo would be a max guy. He wants to keep payroll at a manageable level so it doesn't hinder the team going forward. It takes a special player to get a 5 or 4 year deal from Ainge going forward.

No thanks on Shaq.

Well, if there aren't any other positives concerning the idea of Varajeo signing with the Celtics besides the fact that we wouldn't have to worry about him flopping and drawing offensive fouls against us anymore I for one would still be willing to consider signing him. In this league, you're either the 'flopp-ie' or the 'flopper', and the Celtics never seem to get the right calls, sometimes. It's almost like the referees have a union against us.

On a serious note, Varejao's offensive output has steadily improved since he started with the Cavs, and his younger legs would help on the boards. I'm not saying he'd ever average 'Kevin Garnett in his prime' numbers in either category but on a team like the Celtics he'd most likely be playing a supporting role, anyways. Just a thought.

I don't think they would give up Varejao without getting back some value besides expiring contract. But Sheed for 2 of West/Parker/Moon would work.

I think they have to. They have to sell everything they can and rebuild through the draft. They gotta blow games in hopes of Harrison Barnes. And i can’t wait to watch them suck.
