  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
On a somewhat unrelated note, why is noone talking about John Salmons? He produces everywhere he goes and is a very good player on both sides of the ball. I like Miller and all, but he hasn't exactly been great in the past couple of seasons.

John Salmons is close on doing the 39 million deal with the Bucks

amir johnson would be an outstanding fit on the Cs, particularly with rondo.
What has Amir Johnson done in his NBA career to warrant spot on any NBA roster?!

Clear evidence that there is a reason why certain franchises remain perpetually irrelevant. But then again, this is not our problem.

Big Baby was a FA at the wrong possible time. Last year, teams were saving money for this season. And he signed a 2 yr deal which makes him a FA when the new CBA kicks in.

Ah, but it is our problem. Not only are these teams signig players that potentially could be signed by the Celts, they are setting the market for what the Celts will have to pay to sign someone.

I'm almost to the point that I hope they get Paul and Ray and call it a day. I'd rather muddle through Xmas with Shelden Williams and Erden than hear that we've signed Brad Miller to a 5 year full MLE deal. Seriously.

If the stories of Doc’s relationship with Mike Miller are true, the Cs should convince Miller to procure a S&T from the Wiz to get him to Boston. The Cs could offer Sheed’s contract and a 2nd rounder and cash. Washington would get a couple of assets to use in rebuilding for nothing. The Cs could pay Miller nearly $8mil in this scenario, which should be enough to get his attention.

I'd then like to see the Cs use what they have to of the MLE to try to get Amir Johnson.

Sign Pierce, Allen and Allen, then roll into the season with Rondo, Bradley, Allen, Allen, Pierce, Miller, Gaffney, KG, Baby, Harangody, Johnson, Perk, Erden and... wait for it.... Shaq for the vet min (or another back-up 5).

That's nasty.....

Lakers offered Mike Miller full MLE.

Setting the market is more an issue in baseball where the sky is the limit for top players or in football after drafts.

Demand and the cap/size of MLE decides contracts in the NBA.

This is absolutely. Salmons was a flop of epic proportions with the Bulls who ended up having to move him because he was close to useless for them.

Precisely why we execute this (the Miller part). We can offer him more thru Sheed's contract.
