If the stories of Doc’s relationship with Mike Miller are true, the Cs should convince Miller to procure a S&T from the Wiz to get him to Boston. The Cs could offer Sheed’s contract and a 2nd rounder and cash. Washington would get a couple of assets to use in rebuilding for nothing. The Cs could pay Miller nearly $8mil in this scenario, which should be enough to get his attention.

I'd then like to see the Cs use what they have to of the MLE to try to get Amir Johnson.

Sign Pierce, Allen and Allen, then roll into the season with Rondo, Bradley, Allen, Allen, Pierce, Miller, Gaffney, KG, Baby, Harangody, Johnson, Perk, Erden and... wait for it.... Shaq for the vet min (or another back-up 5).

That's nasty.....

I like this plan! - trade for Mike Miller.

Then use the MLE on a big man. If the full MLE is needed for a guy like Shaq/Brad Miller/etc, so be it.

An additional young big man would be amazing. If somehow a split can be swung to get Johnson, Mahinmi, etc i'd be stoked.

Amir isn't really a good rebounder.. And I'm sure Toronto is going to look to lock him into a nice little contract.

he averaged 5 boards in 17 minutes a game last year. i think i can survive with that considering all else he brings to the table.

I haven't seen him play to much, but the numbers aren't bad 5(4.8,) boards in 17 minutes sounds pretty good. 4 boards in 15 minutes for his career not to shabby either. Add that to the fact that he's only 24 pretty athletic and can run up and down the floor I like the sound of him, a lot.

There would be no reason for Washington to make that deal. To pick up a  second round pick and a little extra cash isn't that big a deal.

Johnson is an end of the bench guy, you are overrating him. He put up numbers after Bosh was hurt, and they were out of the playoff hunt, Hedo was basically benched and the teams they were playing didn't care.

Would Shaq take the vet min?

If Boston exited the offseason having used the MLE, Sheed's contract, and a vet min offer on Mike Miller, Amir Johnson and Shaq, I'd be happy.

Well he doesn't need the money, but I was being a bit flip. Point is a compitent back-up 5. Tony Battie or the like.

I am not sure he is a full MLE guy, but I like Johnson a lot.  I think they would need to get another veteran though as insurance, because Johnson is still a project.  If they can split the MLE between Johnson and Brad Miller, it would be perfect...and of course Mike Miller would be a great fit on the wing.

ESPN had an article about best bargain FA's and Amir Johnson was listed as one of the most underrated rebounders in the league. He was like top 5 in offensive rebounding percentage I think. They also had Ben wallace on the list who they say will probably sign for the Vet Min. Since rebounding was such a problem last year, I'd surely take a stab at either of these two, Wallace only if he does indeed sign for the Vet min.

Heck, I'd sign both for the vet min.

I know Wallace signed for the vet min last year, but my guess is that if he comes back, it would only be for a championship quality squad (that helps the Celtics case) and for more than the vet min (not sure how Celtics owners think about that).

Yes for Sheed for Miller. No for Amir.

Use the MLE to get 2 guys - Hakim Warrick and Shaq.
Warrick gets the most minutes off the bench and replaces KG within the next couple years. Shaq works for 2 mil. Anything more than this is pointless. Shaq gets the minutes as a starter till Perk returns midseason. Then we work Perk back in and see what rotation works best. Tony Allen should be used to get Morrow as Ray's eventual replacement. Maybe take on Turiaf's contract and throw in next year's 1st rounder.

Rondo - Bradley - Nate(maybe)
Ray - Morrow - Daniels(maybe)
Pierce - Miller
KG - Warrick - Harangody
Shaq - Perk - BBD
Can't stop, Rondo!

What has Amir done to make him worth the MLE?

There is a lot of the same fascination with Travis Outlaw.

Let them actually accomplish something in the NBA before they merit anything like that.

Hakim Warrick has been in the league 5yrs been on 3 teams, his rebound numbers a putrid,  but you think he is the future replacement for KG?? Really?
