Just watched the recording of NBA Fastbreak and herd Bucher say he got a cryptic message that Childress is going to our green.

What is a cryptic message?
Probably a strange text from one of his sources.

That's what I figured.  Wouldn't mind getting Childress if it didn't cost to much.

Agree...Childress is one of the worst shooting swingman in the world...hes stroke is uglyer then Matrixs...I think that every Celtics fan from Europe dont wanna Childress in green.

Career 52% shooter, career 36% three point shooter, career 80% from the line ... the shot is ugly-looking.  But it goes in - frequently (like the Matrix)

That's how I remember it from 08. Plus he can run the floor which is a plus. He'd be much better for this team than Quis who's an even worse shooter than Rondo.

Why all the excitement over Childress.  He wasn't even that good when he was in the NBA.  I don't get it.  And he didn't impress overseas either.

Teams (and fans like us) often evaluate and value players disproportionately on how the player plays against them. Childress always seems to play well against us. I can remember when we got that scare from the Hawks in the '08 playoffs how well (athletically and intellectually) Childress played. All I seem to remember was that he seemed to be everywhere on both O and D with that high motor of his and his draining 3s from the  corner on us at critical junctures of games. That's why I think people here overvalue him.

That being said, I like his numbers and motor and athleticism enough to get him.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
If we can get Childress and pick up T. Prince, we could field a team with the stupidest looking jumpshots you've ever seen...

Such as..

"Childress just didn't tell me that he won't be not going to the celtics"?  :)

I love Childress.  He is just a basketball player.  He can handle the ball, score, pass, defend, and is a decent shooter.

And if Johnson signs the max deal being offered by the Hawks, then I think there is no chance they would match.

Childress and Chandler...make it happen Danny!

You need Shawn Marion on your team to take that superlative!

I am greek, I live in greece and I can tell u what I think about Childress...
he didnt play well against Panathinaikos(my team in greece), but I really think that he could help us if we use him the right way!!
in Olympiakos, they expected him to be the superstar who scores 25 ppg and the guy who would bring Olympiakos back to titles against a better rival! in fact Olympiakos won the greek cup but not the championship and everybody now thinks that Childress is useless...
IMHO Childress can play great perimeter defense, is a good handler and slasher and can pass the ball effectively, even though the little spaces in Europe didnt help him show his attributes... his shot is not that good but forcing him to take so many shots like they did in Olympiakos is something that's not gonna happen if he joins the C's... scoring won't be the reason why we bring him, he's not gonna carry the scoring load like he was supposed to do in Olympiakos(oh, btw, he was the top scorer in greek championship this year)!! I'd love to see him in green, I think he's a Posey-type of player without much of the 3-point range, but I still think that he fits well with the Celtics' mentality...
if we could combine him along with a good shooter off the bench, I would sign Childress in a heartbeat!! ;D

in fact I'm Panathinaikos' fan, so you might want to take the TP back... :D
I just think that Chilly is a good basketball player and respect his game... ;)

Can we get a cap experts opinion on if Childress is a base year compensation player (like it said in the article)?
