Hope we can get a great assistant coach so he's rewarded with a little time off during the season.

Like Lawrence Frank?  Cuz I'd love to get him as our assistant coach.

I second this.  Lawrence Frank would fit nicely in as Thibs replacement as Associate Head Coach, although I am unsure if they will give out that title again.

I am also glad to see Doc back even though I question some of his decisions he has proven me wrong before and has shown that he is still a more capable coach than others (Brown, SVG, Jackson-08)

I've been advocating that since Frank's name was first mentioned.  He becomes the Assistant Head Coach, and Doc gets to take a few short breaks in the season to see his family.  LF handles a few practices.  Doc may even take off a road trip or two.  I've got confidence that LF could handle a few games, and that this particular group of players would be fine with that kind of arrangement.

To me this means Pierce and Ray will be back, in my opinion.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Fantastic. There's no one out there better suited for this team than Doc.

Yes! Love that we're looking to get Lawrence Frank as the assistant coach too!

Very heartening news.

But I don't think this automatically leads to re-signing PP and RA and TA, etc. There are going to be a number of opportunities in the trade market to get younger and still contend next year.

After hearing rumors of Vinny Del Negro and McHale coaching the team, this is VERY welcome news.

better yet.... 96-0.  ;D

let's hope that more than money convinced doc to return. i hope this convinces pierce to return at LESS than max dollars.

it may be too much to wish for, but perhaps this means that the ownership is willing to pay through the nose for the next couple of years so as to ensure another championship or two.

if wyc et al will fork over bucks, ainge can build a team to win it all.

Not necessarily...  Doc doesn't pay the bills, just coaches.
