I am wondering now that Pierce has opted out of his contract, and Rasheed retiring, That means we have space to sign a max correct? OK Now if that is true then why dont we tell Pierce and allen that if we sign someone that you guys split the MLE for this season and we re-sign you two after this season of even mid-season. Now after we did something like that. Do we have the LLE to use on anyone? That way we could finish up our bench with someone like shaq or something.

Shaq(till perk comes back)/Perk/baby

Sorry but you are wrong on many levels.  We only have cap space if we renounce PP and Ray or they sign elsewhere.  If we renounce them, we no longer can go over the cap to sign them.  If we go under the cap, the mid level would no longer be available.  And finally, PP and Ray would NEVER EVER EVER EVER agree to split the mid level even if we had it.

Even though Pierce opted out we still don't have the cap space, because of something called a "Cap hold", which is basically the Celtics still have his cap space in the books since the Celtics would own Pierce's Bird Rights. The only way to shed the cap hold is to renounce his rights, THEN we'd have some cap space.

So no, it's not possible..it's not possible for us to get ANY max f/a
