hard to get excited about anything NBA or Celtics.
They just lost the Championship by 2 baskets
and a few calls that coulda gone either way.
They were worked against in every series leading up and in the final quarter of the 7th game.

behind the scenes i think quite a few players involved have lost the love of the competition when it is soiled by biased and/or crippling officiating.

The whole sharade of NBA is coming down to who accidentally touched whose arm first, or which player flops best, or what screens will be called, or which player to market.

I just feel deflated.

We all do!  We were one Perkins injury from 18!  It SUCKS! But if you love the C's and the game of basketball like everybody on here does you'll come back.

yeah, and i will watch then and get into it because i am both a fan and a gambler.
but i really feel like the Prize is stained.
i'm sure some players feel the same way, so does doc, so does owners. more than any other major sport, the system is
flawed.

One simple change would make me happy.

Get rid of the hand check rule.

Hear me out.  The hand check rule says that
Quote
A defender may momentarily touch an opponent with his hand anywhere on the court as long as it does not affect the opponent’s movement (speed, quickness, balance, rhythm).

The problem with this is that it leaves too much up to the interpretation of the referees.  When a player like Tony Allen brushes Kobe's hand, it is a foul.  When Kobe smacks Tony's hand, it is just incidental... In other words, the referees opinion matters a lot when calling hand checks, and as a result, star players get the benefit of the doubt.

Eliminate the rule, and allow hand checking.  It will make the NBA more physical, more defensive oriented, but ultimately more fair, IMHO.

Sorry, don't mean to hijack, just seemed related...

The owners don't, they wouldnt pour money into a broken system. I doubt the players do or the players union would do something.

Yeah they're are bad calls. They happen to both teams. Get over it. I mean, watch the first 4 minutes of game 7, EVERY call when the Celtics way. Kobe was getting tripped and pushed and there were no calls. That's what we wanted, and we lost. Time to move on.

WHEN IT MATTERS in the 4th quarter, Celtics got ROBBED of a legit chance to win with 21 Laker Free Throws.

Even in the offseason we have to hear about what a charade the NBA and its officiating is. People -- let it go --  ;D

i understand your feelings. i am depressed over the celtics too.

as for the nba, honestly i agree with your points and have other problems with nba basketball as a game.

it is unwatchable for me. too many individuals going isolation, one on one, too little defense or team play. it is really boring most times. one start gets the ball. folks clear out. star charges the basket.

i can not watch nba basketball unless the celtics are playing.

i prefer college ball. indeed, women's college basketball is very entertaining. great effort, team play. you get to watch a well coached hard played team play a game instead of a super athletic player going one on one.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Yeah, if you can't get interested right now, with everything going on, you probably need a new sport to follow.

I've actually grew more upset (at ref job)  as time has gone on but, as a few have mentioned once the season comes around and if everyone is back (the important ones) I'll probably get over it...
