That way Celtics can re-sign their own player. Since allegedly money is not much of an issue for a year to Lebron. Then he can compensated in the future by the organization. Danny should present The king the idea. Maybe he'll lured by the idea playing for Celtics green. Isn't a NBA history buff, he knows historical significance Past/Present/Future of the franchise. Present is:

Rondo/Avery
Pierce/TA
Lebron/Ray
KG/?
Perk/Baby

If he accepts, find someone willing to dump salary ala GSW. Something centering around Sheed's contract. Maybe a Monta/Randolph off GSW. Then add ShaQ............etc

If he declines you go to plan B, keep your own players & Reload. Fix the bench & what not.

We would have to sign him for three years to obtain his Bird right, that would (at the least) lose LeBron 50 or so million dollars.

No chance.

These big FA are not going to accept that little money for 1 year.  They all want to get in their big long contracts before the CBA expires because the new one won't allow them to make as much.  That is why all these 2003 draftees constructed their extensions to expire this year.  This is also why Pierce and Dirk also most likely decided to opt out.

There is no way you are getting a marquee player for the MLE or some 1 year deal.

There goes David Stern again, I call him the terminator AKA dream scenario crusher. Is there anything CBA haven't thought about?

So, what about Kwame Brown? This off-season could get that miserable for the Celtics.

If it really isn't about the money, the Celtics and Lakers would really have to be high on any of these big free agents lists.

That said, I don't think it is only about the money, but money does play in.  If you could somehow convince Lebron that playing with Pierce, Rondo, and Perkins is his best option, I think you could potentially get a sign and trade with Cleveland, by sending back Garnett and Sheed and also taking on Williams or adding in Davis and taking Jamison.  That would allow Cleveland to start rebuilding much quicker.  Obviously two or three firsts would also go to Cleveland.

That said the chance of any of that happening is next to nothing so there really is no point in talking about it.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

It's not about the money - because generally speaking these guys (Lebron, Wade, Bosh) are going to all get max deals. For guys like Johnson, Amare, etc. who probably aren't max guys, it will be about the money.

It's not about the money, it's about what the money represents.
