D-Wade?

Just gave this a thought for a bit. Let's say Pierce re-signs for the MLE (I think he would if the following scenario happened). If we let Ray go, and with Sheed retiring, won't we have enough for Wade? Just think about it.

That's even better than the Bulls if they get LeBron AND Bosh!


Only thing is, though, is Pierce loyal enough to take a salary cut for the better of the team?

Still wouldn't have enough cap space.. We're pretty... Not good in that area.

Now if Pierce signed for the vets min, maybe. Even they probably not.

Well, Paul Pierce has been my favorite basketball player forever, but he is 100% definitely not worth $21M right now. More like $5M.

If a team gets under the cap, they loose the MLE. The Celtics would have to renounce all their free agents, sign the one max star, and then try to fill the team with minimum contracts.

Thats a real long shot.

I agree that Pierce isn't worth $21M, but he's worth more than $5M.  But I don't see any point in signing him past KG's contract.  This team needs to eventually surround itself with players that will complement Rondo going forward.  An aging Pierce making 8 figures doesn't fit the bill.

Pierce is still the 4 or 5th best small forward in the NBA, and top 20 player overall (and declining however).

That still positions him at a value of 12-15 million annually.
